It has come under my attention that certain individual are creating Facebook profiles and pages under the name of famous players.

The Profiles "friends" and Pages "likes" list is increasing by the day and the main purpose is to share youtube links - all to the account likely from the account creators. (I don't have evidence that it is the same person, but what's the odds of the same behaviour from all accounts?)

Now, if the account creator uses his own name (just like all our other video posters), I won't find anything wrong or dodgy.
But since, creating 1 fake account is not enough, now there is more and more and more (more avenues to direct traffic to the youtube account)

Please beware of such scams, as it doesn't seem just like sharing some videos for the TT community.
Something is fishy!

I won't name and shame yet, so I hope the person in question:
1) Closes all fake (identity fraud) account
2) Create his own account (can come up with his own name and call it that) and everything is done under this name.
3) Let table tennis community continue to enjoy table tennis videos, without using dodgy methods

For the others, you guys can decide if it is dodgy or not and take appropriate action from there.

some social players copy their idols names etc, but I agree if it is about stealing and profit making
using names to deceive people

maybe better to pm some mods

It's a much bigger problem on Facebook, as it annoys so many more people at the same time, and their intentions are dishonest to say the least!

To ban these people on the forum, we would need to either
1. be sure that the content is copied without permission, or
2. They stuff they post is clearly annoying to people.

i know 2 profile pages that are fakes on Facebook . they belong to the so called Ma Long .

1 is an obvious fake , since " he " lives and works in Turkey

the other one is harder to spot , but this is how i know it's a fake : in China , Facebook is forbidden . it's so censured, that the chinese Gov made a separate website that works as Facebook and it's 90 % identical to it (layout , color , functions etc ). i was shocked when i first saw that website . i'm trying to remember the name .

for Facebook there are only 2 exceptions : Hong Kong - still democratic till 2024 or something like that , and the business / foreign residential area of Shanghai .
