If those kids are so dumb as to copy everything on TV there are going to be more serious criminal issues than ping pong manners.

Not a case of kids begin dumb - kids are very easily influenced...if adults don't realise this, I guess then, yes they may well grow up with issues.

agenthex, those kids won't imitate everything on tv, but as a Jike fan they might imitate his behaviour. I wonder if you have kids. What would you do if one of your kids broke a barrier at a local tournament?

If it's actual untoward behavior rather than kicking some ad sign I'd consider the need for better parenting instead of shifting the blame onto everyone else but me. Clearly junior is deficient in his imitation by failing to win the world cup first.

ZJK is under no contractual obligation to be a "role model" for children nor adults, a victory celebration for a hard fought championship is hardly a crime and I'm not going to legislate my choices onto someone else without good reason.

Will we mere mortals (non-ITTF) ever know where/how the money will be used? I take it the accounting practices are all above-board and independently audited. Yes?

So if your kid breaks a barrier after winning an important local tournament and that barrier happens to have an ad on it from a local sponsor, you would tolerate it?

I don't think his smashing the barriers (after the match was over) was a good look particularly, but I am not quite sure it was the apocalypse.

The ITTF have fined ZJK, taken all his winnings (which I would have been more ok with if there had been a little more due process and some signs of deliberation). Fine. Message sent.

What is appalling is that they have now decided to capitalize on those moments in a promotional video!!! THAT is really messed up. (The video is terrible in other ways too).

I also agree with AgentHEX that athletes aren't really obligated to be likeable or warm and fuzzy. Some are. Some aren't. It's not their job to help raise my kids.

I'd tell him not to be so satisfied with small victories and ignore the haters who can't even get those.

I take full credit for that 8), maybe I should be a consultant for them as they need such grass roots guidance? :P

Isn't it funny that it seems so few people have confidence in the ittf whatever they do or not, as is the case!

Continued poor decision making and processes that indicate a dictatorship and a committees of yes men and obfuscation of strategies of the rules of the game and organisation.

There always seems to be a fall back position of politicisation and wriggling putting the blame on and passing the buck down the chain to individual countries to decide what rules to apply knowing full well they will follow like lemmings to keep their power position within the ittf.
