As some of you may have read already, our friend and long-time member JimWeiland has unfortunately passed away. ;( ;( ;(

Jim has been a member here for a decade and has made many friends in that time. He was always willing to share stories and video of his table tennis exploits with numerous people here in his own great style and humour, for which we will always be thankful.

Our forum extends our deepest sympathies to Jim's family and loved ones. He was a true friend and gentleman and we will sadly miss him!!!

To honour Jim as our friend and long term forum contributor, he will be added to our Memorial page.

To show your thanks for Jim's friendship and great contribution here, please post your messages here (even a single one-lines to show your support), please either post them here, or PM them to me if you would like to add something personal or your real name. I will compile all the message into a file, and we will pass them onto his family.

Rest in peace Jim, we will miss you, but we are grateful having known you!!!

A well recognized and respected member. Jim was a guy I personally followed when I switched to playing with long pips. His passing will be a great loss to this forum. Condolences to his close family and friends. RIP Jim.

Like 99% of us on here, i didn't know Jim personally, but passed verse with him many times on most things TT and equipment, he was a fine contributor to this, finest of TT forum's, he was most friendly, sincere and fun, i enjoyed his TT video's too!

I am still in shock at your accident and loss, so tragic in conditions probably driven 100s of times before, it doesn't seem fair or right!

My condolences to your wife, family and friends Jim, you will be missed, of that i am sure, but your family's faith will comfort you all, especially in these early days of pain and loss and the Good Lord will help and heal you all!

Another bright star is taken to our Heavens.

I went back to a thread Jim started in our forum member videos from 16 May 2011 - Jim Weiland at Schaumburg Tourney May 7 viewtopic.php?f=39&t=15958&hilit=jim+weiland

If you read this thread and watch the videos you'll know more why Jim will be missed (you will need to be logged in to watch forum member videos).

I posted on Jim's thread and at the end of my post I said this:

"Thanks again for posting your vids. Very interesting to watch someone of your style play... Also very good to watch a gentleman play. You were polite and courteous at all times and acknowledged your opponents good shots when he hit them"

Jim Weiland, a gentleman, polite and courteous.

Jim was a tenacious competitor and a good friend. He was always willing to help out players of any level, and I enjoyed talking about the latest equipment with him. He gave me a lot of valuable recommendations about how to improve my game. Anybody who met him even once would tell you how friendly and energetic he was. And although he was intense during matches, he'd always greet you with a smile and a handshake afterwards. I'm proud to have known him, teamed up with him, and competed against him.

Jim was a solid contributor on this forum, and was always willing to help people. I feel lucky to have known him online, as I'm sure many other of his friends on this forum feel as well. You will be sadly missed on this forum, but you will never be forgotten. Your post and contribution here will always remain. You will be remembered here by your posts, videos and helpful contribution.

To honour Jim as our friend and long term forum contributor, he has been added to our Memorial page.

I'm sure many of you have probably not seen this thread as well, so it's not to late to post a message here, that will be passed onto his family.
