MODS: CORRECT/ADD/UPDATE AS NECESSARY

I've noticed that a lot of people here don't bother searching the forums for comments on X bit of equipment and instead just post a new thread. While that's nice (for you), after seeing a dozen threads asking the exact same question it starts to get old.

WHEN IN DOUBT, SEARCH.

Just a few tips here to help us all get along.

SEARCHING

There are two methods here.

1) Internal forum search

2) External search engine

Internal forum search

Advantages:
Doesn't include signature
Easy to use

Disadvantages:
Can't use " " for specific strings
Haggisv has a 20 or 30 second timer between searches.

HOW TO USE:
Click the search link at the head of the page. It's right below the title.

Search for KEYWORDS.
Type in your search terms.
It's no good just typing in "allround" or whatever, you have to be more specific.

Use the AND option to make sure both words are in the thread. OR gives one or the other. Exclude keywords with NOT. You can also do partial matches with *.

For example:
I want to search for allround blades

allround AND blades

This will give you 106 matches - too many!
Lets refine the search to Donic allround blades.

Allround AND blades AND Donic

18 matches - that's a bit better!

Now lets refine the search to cut out all butterfly blades.

Allround AND blades AND Donic NOT Butterfly

10 matches!

Ok, I think you get the idea now.

You can also limit the searches to a specific range of dates, search for posts by specific users, search in specific forums, etc.

External Search Engine

Advantages:
Cached
Bit faster

Disadvantages:
Includes sigs

The easiest way to search forums with rubbish internal search engines (not pointing fingers) is to use google's site search feature.

Go to google, type: site:http://ooakforum.com/ SEARCH KEYWORDS

I'm not going to go into any further detail. I assume you can use google. If you can't, there are hundreds of guides out there.

Yeah, once again a very good informative post. Admittedly, I did not know how to narrow down the search using AND, OR and NOT. So this is really good to learn.

Cheers.

UPDATE ON SEARCHING:

One more option is now available for searching for review type information on equipment. Look in the Equipment section for the thread "The OOAK Equipment Review Index". I have begun populating this with quite a lot of links to threads with good info and discussion on blades and rubbers.

If you know of good info that you found or wrote on the forum please post details of it in the thread.

Thanks.

Speedplay, although you may have deleted the link, unfortunately, the hidden link is still there. Just place your arrow at the end of these three dots, you will see the arrow changed. Click and there is the link of "make money online".

Mod (that means Yuzuki, because you are the newest) or Administrator, please delete the whole post. Now, if you can delete the hidden link without deleting the post, it is ok too, I just want people to understand what Speedplay was talking about. ;)
