STAY FIRM...

The plastic rightfully have admission to all the scoup of local competitions.

Nor your local club, nor your local players fellowship do have any power to impose taboo on the plastic ball.

Both celluloid and plastic are equally admissable for nonprofessional club play.
Any possible player's dissense about the plastic will be resolved by drawing a lot.

Stay firm, don't let people to adopt decisions against the Table Tennis Rule 2.3.3, and stop you from using the plastic. Stay firm...

I am not going to stop anyone from using a plastic ball. However that does not mean that I have to use it:)

jarvissports.co.uk now also has Donic seamed balls - £3.95 for 3. They have them also in orange, which I had not seen for other brands yet.

They used the packages of 40mm balls for the 40+ balls. Image

Hmmm

"DHS 1 star 40+ table tennis ball made of new plastic material. 10 pcs pack. Approved by Chinese Table Tennis Association.

THE BALL IS PRODUCED FROM NEW PLASTIC MATERIAL WHICH IS NOT AS DURABLE AS CELLULOID."

CTTA approved only the cheap ones, the ITTF approved are €1.56

I picked up some joola plastic balls at the us open. I will post observations some time in the next couple weeks. It wasn't bad as I remember. Chops were still significant with long pips.

Bought some Tibhar balls at a local dealer, 3 pcs for $5,25. They also had Donic for the same price and DHS 6 pcs for $9,75.

There's certainly some difference, due to size and material change, but it's nothing major. People saying, that now they've lost their main weapon, because the ball is less spiny are over-exaggerating, a lot.

Sure, the ball is slightly and I mean very slightly slower and less spiny, but it's almost negligible. 90+% of people will probably not notice, if you switch the ball during a game.

The biggest difference, at least for me, was the higher bounce. It caught me by surprise a few times, but mostly on loops, that are really spiny. In close to the table play, it behaves like the old ball. It most likely bounces higher even there, but it's by such a tiny amount, that you don't notice.

Tried the new Tibhar plastic ball today.

Here are my findings: -

1. Doing a drop test the bounce height is less than the 40 mm ball.
2. Found it easy to play with immediately.
3. When warming up with FH to FH and BH to BH you feel like you have more time, so I presume the ball is moving slower.
4. The serves still seemed to be spinny, maybe slightly less than the 40mm ball.
5. When looping forehands, if I didn't get lots of spin the ball sometimes drifted long, so the lack of spin (or less spin) stopped the ball arcing down.
6. Occasionally a brush loop shot seemed to make little contact and the ball dropped.
7. When playing back from the table I seemed to have much more time to get shots back, so may suit good retrievers.
8. When hitting the ball it still seems to have plenty of speed, maybe less than the 40 mm ball but enough to play winning shots.

Hope that helps.

I totally agree "igorponger" I always carry my own celluloide balls & won't play with less than 3 star match balls or plastic :punch: :swear: :@
