I went to Alicante for World Veteran Championship with my friend, who participated the matches there.

I always heard ppl complain generally awful quality of plastic ball, yet surprisingly my friend told me the XSF used this time is pretty good! This is also what I heard from some English women and men sitting next to me.

So, have you also played at WVC? and how do you feel?

....After ask this question, it occurs to me, probably these "veterans" are not a fan of internet and forums..^_^

I have no issues with the XSF ball - the ball seems to play consistently, and I didn't hear anyone complaining about it.

Having said that, my doubles partner seemed to have a problem when testing the ball before the start (spinning for trueness) with one ball - I couldn't see a problem. Generally, the ball was good, and I have not broken any XSF balls, in matches or training, in quite a few hours play.

I find a few are out of shape...you can tell almost instantly....but most are good. If it plays strangely, spin it to see.

While there have been a few complaints that some recent batches have not been as round as before, the XSF ball generally has an excellent reputation on English language table tennis forums.

Maybe it's because it gets hotter so balls became softer during transportation (if shipping by sea, wow, definitely plastic will get softer), then became easier to deform or have dents! Am I Sherlock?? So clever!

I have kept boxes of these balls in my auto's trunk for extended periods of time in the summer in Houston Texas, where it is pretty much always above 35 degrees celsius, and it has no effect on the seamless balls.

I was in Alicante and I played with XSF balls during the World Veteran Championship and I can say that balls were good.I don't know if it is because I get used to these balls (I train with XSF balls)but I think it is the best plastic ball in the market.

Just opened a new box of XSF. Only one out of the six is round. The manufacturing date is June 2016 (XFAF). However, the weight is consistent (2.71 to 2.72 g). Hope they will tighten up their QC.

How non-round are they? Can we see photos?

It is hard to detect it with the naked eyes. However, you can clearly see it wobbling while doing the spin test (on a hard surface).

I'll have to try it with some of mine, then. Don't have XSF but I've got lots of seamless balls (Sanwei, iPong, KingNik). So far no problems using them.

How about a video?

In the old days the pros made a show of spinning balls on the table to pick a round one for the match - this was true even for Nittaku or TSP 3 stars, which were supposed to be perfect!

The XSF wobbles, but not as bad as the Palio (1:30). So I guess it's not that bad.

Yeah, those photos show distortion - the balls look elongated away from the center. You can see it most in the top right hand ball and the bottom ball. On the video, you really can't see what he's talking about, they should have filmed from above. Those are also early balls, back when the plastic balls were first being introduced.
