Welcome, alex. Which part of Australia are you from? Do you play at a club? Ditto for your son. What sort of questions do you have?

Hi all,

New to the forum, and pretty new to table tennis in general. Had only played in basements in the past for fun, but was recently introduced to it by my older brother as a sport. He's on the forum, too (Phamster).

I'm loving it so far, certainly become borderline obsessed. Never have wanted to be so good at a sport until table tennis! No tournaments under my belt, still building the foundation. Play/train with a few 2000+ level players at my club in a small Colorado town, but they have all been very helpful and fun to train with. They've all trained with Chinese, Russian, women's USA TT team coach as well. Hope to get some match training in soon once my stroke mechanics are reasonable.

So much to learn!

Hello,
I am new to the forum I have made a couple posts so far. Im the president of my table tennis club at my university in the east coast of USA although its just a recreational club. We have some serious members including myself and we have a lot of fun competing with each other. I like to watch table tennis and also since I am running my club I help people out with equipment and also run tournaments so I like this forum for asking some questions and having discussions about related topics.

Hey there!

My name is Mikhail (I prefer "Mischa") and I'm 31 years old. I was born in Russia (Moscow), nevertheless, I've spent most of my life in Germany. I currently live in Stuttgart (appx. 200 km west of Munich) where I just finished my studies in computer science with respect to intrusion detection for automotive networks using artificial neural networks.

Apart from my passion for table tennis I have a keen interest in digital photography, long distance running and Yoga.

I started playing table tennis when I was 5 years old. During the next 15 years, when table tennis turned into more than just a hobby (by practicing almost every day for several hours) I realized that my passion for this great sport transformed into a 'job' where no matter I felt the urge to play or not, I forced myself to show up by means of 'duty' for my coach and teammates.

Long story short: I quitted table tennis almost overnight and decided to devote my time more valuable things in life with my then age - mainly girls and beer. Being table tennis free for almost ten years, I felt the need to give ping pong another chance and started practicing a couple of months ago for the sake of the unique sound a single ply Hinoki wood creates.

When it comes to table tennis, my interests are focussed on traditional penholder blades, techniques and always casting an eye on the "Buy & Sell" forum looking for a gem.

I look forward getting to know new people, learning from others and generally speaking having a great time here. :)

Im a long time reader of OOAKForum, and other TT Forums. Got into TT almost 4 years back. Started out with a pair of DingDong ( sic ) bats and a box of Stiga Cup balls. Found my calling with C-pen while everyone else went with Shakehand. Became an EJ when I ordered from China :-D and then I couldn't stop :-)

I have 2 of everything ;-) 2 GKI Kungfu bats, 2 Yasaka MaLin III Carbon+Ti ( 1 Cpen, 1 SH-FL), 2 TSP Black balsa 7.0 CP, and for now 1 TSP Versal CP :-)

Countless rubbers purchased , glues, edge-tapes, knives, bat-cases, etc.

You guys gave me the idea to boost with EO ( eucalyptus oil ) and with PO ( johnson's baby oil containing paraffin oil ) and try out kerosene to tune rubbers.

How to cut rubbers with a scalpel, an X-acto blade, box cutters and never use scissors.

Figure out what glues have what effect, wood glue? rubber cement ? elmers ? tyre puncture solution ? :-)

 So thank you for making me into a full-blown EJ :-)

Peace  And hope more and more ppl become EJs and TT players :-)

Hello everyone!

I am a returning forum member from a decade ago, the oldies will remember my old forum name as "slaplink_pat" (can't remember my previous login details so I made a new account, haggisv can help me with this one ^_^)

I am from the Philippines and I am playing for the Vigan City Club of Ilocos Sur Table Tennis Association.

I've been playing since year 1999 but started at 15 years old.

I now play as a modern defender but not at a very high level, I would estimate around 1900-2050 US Rating.

I am a Fire Officer but mostly incharge of IT and office matters in the station.
