Hello :)

My daughter has been playing for around 8 months now. Her coach asked me to get new FH and BH rubbers for her. He advised that I should get Stiga Boost or Stiga Magna. What are the available similar rubbers in Butterfly? He also advised that I can get - if I want to - Butterfly Timo Boll Spirit. What do you think?

p.s.: I have access to Butterfly products only.

Thanx :)

Hi m_tintin. It's a really tough one. Your daughter has been playing 8 months. Usually that means still beginner. We are a low standard club in the whole scheme of things and don't have coaching but I've never seen anyone in 8 months reach even the top half of our competition. Then again maybe she's a talented athlete and has had intense coaching for the period.

If she is still beginner then that set up would be fine in a way Complete overkill and a waste of money but wont make any difference to her play as it wouldn't matter what she used she would get same results. If you had to go butterfly though, maybe Timo Boll ALL with Flextra. Possibly Primorac with Sriver.

If intermediate level then the above is still ok but maybe the Timo Boll Spirit could start to be suitable, once again though I'd probably overkill and cheaper options around. The rubbers suggested are quite fast and Butterfly equivalents are likely very expensive.

The comment regarding internet is really asking why you can't order online as there are many cheaper and just as suitable options for that level of player.

Hi Cobalt :)

Thanx for your reply :)

As I said, she's been training for 8 months now, 3 days a week, around 60 - 90 minutes each time. She's been using an old blade of mine, Joola Rossi Viva. She's been also using a couple of used Tibhar rubbers - can't remember their names. I am no expert but my understanding is as she is developing, her coach wanted her to start using rubbers that would enhance her ball control rather than give her speed. Same goes for his suggestion of the blade. I don't think that she is going to play in any competitions soon. And yeah, I believe she is talented, but of course since I am her farther my opinion is totally and absolutely biased :D

I only have access to Butterfly because aside from amazon this is only website that my credit card works on and I'm not sure amazon provides genuine rubbers. I've tried Stiga's website but it doesn't work. If you know any other website, please let me know.

Thank you again :)

How does she play with your Innerforce/Tenergy? If she can deal with that, she can probably deal with the other BTY setup.

But normally, something like a Primorac with Rozena, if you're sticking with Butterfly, would probably be more suitable.

I wish, but its still a long way :) no, she is using Joola Rossi Viva. It's a blade I used to play with around 20 years ago.

Rozena seems like a good choice. A bit fast for her but still a good choice. Thanx :)

If you could tell what Butterfly blades and rubbers available to you...

For rubbers I would suggest Sriver EL, very good and shouldn't be too expensive. It's durable/last long. For blades I would wait on your list.

Thanx for your reply rokphish2 :)

all of butterfly products are available. I usually order through their website.

Sriver EL is an excellent choice alongside the Rozena. I will consider both.

Thanx for the advice :)

You could always message the host of this forum at www.tabletennisshop.com.au

They may be able to advise if your credit card works but also offer personalised advice as to what maybe suitable for your daughter. Many brands are available including Butterfly and Stiga.

I'd recommend the innerforce layer ALC and tenergy 80fx 1.9 on both sides. If you want something slower, try the the tackiness chops.
