Hello, would really appricate your help on rubbers. Here's a little about my journey with Table Tennis

1)Started of with Palio Expert 3 and
2) after some experience an improving my play I switched to a Stiga blade with Yaska Mark V rubbers.
3)Now I feel I can move on to the next level.

Pain points :

1) My forehand action is pretty fast however even after putting a lot of brushing force, I'm not able to generating enough topspin. I believe my rubbers are not tacky enough. Moreverer I believe I need a little more speed as the ball often hits the net, forcing me to straighten my bat angle and reducing topspin

2) My backhand is not as good as forehand, I can block well, but generating topspin is an issue as my strokes are not fast. I 'm training on this and prefer a good control rubber for backhand for now

My tuppence worth:
In most cases, difficulty in lifting a topspin stroke over the net (whether the incomping spin is top- or underspin) is not because of the rubber's insufficient grip/tackiness (unless you use anti, that is).

There are a few typical areas for improvement:
Technique: To increase bat impact for topspin strokes (spin- and speed-wise impact), cock the wrist down at the backswing, and "snap through the ball" when you strike. (For most players, if the mindset is to snap at impact the bat speed increase will come too late. "Snap through" is what you need.)
Point of impact: The closer to the tip of your blade you hit, the higher the impact. For me this is most noticeable in the spin department.
Equipment: With most hard/stiff blades (typically carbon blades) and many "non-linear" blades (with balsa or cork veneers), it is difficult to return fast and spinny. You can have one or the other, but both in the same stroke may be very difficult to achieve. Rather than those specialised blades, look for a "general purpose": an all-wood non-balsa blade in the ALL-OFF range.

You did not say much about your playing level ("intermediate/advanced" could mean different things depending on who made that assessment), nor about your blade, so the above is just my general conception of the "common case", and may be totally irrelevant for your situation. No offense intended.

No doubt about it, you need Tenergy 05..

Kidding aside, as Keme says, your problem might actually be the blade rather than the rubbers. Which Stiga blade DO you have? There are dozens of the things. If it's one of those pre-assembled ones, that might be the problem. Pre-assembled bats, even ones sold by Stiga, tend to be slow and heavy.

Hello, firstly thank you so much for advising in such detail. The blade i use was the same wood of my first paddle - Palio Expert. I haven't bought a blade yet. I'm planning to buy it now. I have been suggested the Butterfly Jonyer H-II. Can you suggest some blades ?

Blade: DHS PowerG-9 OFF++
FH: Yasaka Rakza X
BH: Palio Thor
If u are in India get Bty Jonyer H-II. With Xiom Vega Japan or Pro rubbers.

The setup will be super controlled and faster as you add spin and power.

But I don't see problem with getting Mark V rubbers on the Palio Expert3.

Top players still use MarkV and variants!!! So not spinning is a personal issue. Plenty of topics and videos on improving FH topspin!

Try not to waste money buying too much new stuff. Change gradually. Buy one rubber, if u like buy another, then buy blade. Compare old rubber, new blade, new rubber, new blade, etc. That is how u end up wasting money: [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY][FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY][FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY]

Hello,

Blade : Stiga All round

FH Rubber : Dhs Hurrican Neo 3 - I have chosen a tacky rubber since I have palyed for a year with the Palio and like to play with a flat bat angle.

B/H Rubber : Confused between Donic Blufire M2 , Donic Blufire M3 and Stiga Mantra : My B/h is weak comapred to the F/H

Bluefire is horribly fast. If you can control it then it will be very good else not recommend. Stiga Mantra i have no idea wat or how it plays like.

If Bluefire is "horribly fast", maybe I should try it next in my quest for an uncontrollable rubber? So far Rasant, Rasant Turbo, Rakza X, and Evolution MX-P have all proven to be controllable by me.

Try the Palio AK-47 Blue, or even Yellow.... Excellent value for money...

Another one, I'd recommend (as usual) is the 729 Focus 3 Snipe ...

I've tried(On several occasions), the Donic Bluefire rubbers, since a couple of club-mates have it, and found them to be a bit much for my game...

DHS H3 Neo Commercial and Yasaka MarkV on most All-Round or Off- blades should work for almost all TT players. I can't say what your preference and "feel" will be with the setup.

Stiga All-Round Classic is one of the best All-Wood blades IMHO. Next to that is Stiga Offensive Classic and Stiga Carbon Classic series.

If you find someone with similar H3Neo or MarkV and get them to loan you the racket for couple of minutes to try it out, at least you can confirm what you like or don't like.

I played, for several months, with the HN3 + Mark V Combo, and it worked well for me, until I developed a tennis elbow ... I quite like the HN3, and would recommend it...

There is a weight difference between the HN3 Max, and Mark V Max, due to which, to me, the setup felt rather imbalanced, tipping towards the HN3 side... However, after a while I kind of got used to it...
