Don't know about the current Huichuan (I have the older one without the monkey face) but it seems to be an old-school basswood blade with a smallish flared handle. Fairly hard and solid, not terribly heavy though (80 grams). Iskandar |

Dang, that's cheap. Ali Battleship (yet another nom de AliExpress for Eacheng) has the Sanwei M8 on sale. They've added the latest blue handled ones to the listing, too. And a penhold version. Normally Eacheng wants $14-15 (up to over $20!) for one of these. Here they're on sale (including shipping) at $8.42. Wait, though - buy two and they're $16.50 - i.e. $8.25 each. Wait, though.. what's this?? $11 off a $40 order. Buy FIVE (you're only allowed to buy five! ) and the price is $41.25. Take off $11 and that's $30.25. Oh wait - put that in your cart, and then GET A SELLER COUPON. Another $2 off!! Now it's down to.. uh oh, $28.25??? That's less than $6 each. You can probably ask for one of each color plus the penhold.. Mind you, you don't HAVE to buy five blades, a mix of other merchandise costing over $40 would work, but Ali Battleship has some of the highest prices among the Eachengs. These are great blades by the way - just the right amount of vibration, fantastic feel. Why five blades? Different batches of veneer perhaps. Or different cameras on different days. I doubt there'd be a difference in playing quality, but we'll see. Can't really complain, at that price. The two I have been playing with are excellent. With this many blades I can actually do statistics on weight (the four I've weighed DO vary a lot on weight - everything from 72g to 79g - I asked for the "lightest blade" on the first order and "something close to 80 grams" on the second. Not that huge weight variations are not unknown in even the most expensive blades.)3 days left.. Iskandar |
