Once in a while you pass a thread or a post saying ''this rubber has incredible high gears'' or something alike.
I suppose this comes down to certain abilities of the rubbers (like some have a messed up short game so they might miss this ''gear'').

But what is a proper definition of ''Gears'' ?
And what exactly are the Low and the High Gears?

I have always used the term 'gear' to refer mainly to what speed/power range the rubber is useful over, but some may refer to other aspects...

Some rubbers are highly effective for the short game, but run out of puff from mid-distance... they just don't have enough bounch in them to put some power into the shots.

Whereas some other rubber excels from mid-far distance, but just don't offer much feel / control in the short game.

So rubbers with many gears will offer good feel and power both for the slower game and for the high speed game.
