You'd think... but maybe there is some way to apply the color afterwards?

Why not just apply whatever ink is used for the logo, but entirely to one half of the ball?

Yeah. that should work...

And it's a way to make your own "two colored balls" if you want them. Though I've found that three HUGE black dots works better. Just use a permanent marker.

As long as they keep two colored balls out of competitions I'm fine with companies developing them as training aids. I think learning to read spin is an important skill for players to learn and that having two colored balls would simplify that in competitions. The sports has been getting "dumbed down" enough with the introduction of the bigger ball and now the slightly reduced speed and spin of the plastic ball. Making the sport easy to play is not going to make it more popular to watch on tv, or increase the respect for players skill.

I've tried the XSF plastic ball and really liked it, probably as much as the Nittaku Premium. I should be getting to try out the Butterfly ball soon, a couple of players in my area now have them. The color on the Butterfly ball is really nice. It's a very bright white that should help visibility.
