I do find this picture puzzling. It belongs, obviously, to a serious (or semi-serious) player. Looks like a custom racket (blade bought separately). Even has "serious player" stuff on it (the rubber bands to help with grip, the coroplast "edge tape" to protect the blade from table hits). The pips out rubber is also telling (most store-bought basement rackets have inverted). Yet the ID strip is gone from the rubber, something serious players know not to remove.

The OP mentioned later that it was an old rubber placed there for illustrative purposes.

I'd say its legal, but I'm not sure why you'd have it like that if you're a shakehander. :^)
