Blade: Hugo Calderano OFF+
FH: Hexer Powergrip 2.1
BH: Hexer Powergrip 2.1
I used to have a TB-ALC but after trying the viscaria i bought one of them. I find the viscaria a little softer and preferred that feel over the TB-ALC. Both are very good blades with little to differentiate between the the two apart from the Viscaria being a little softer.

Handle shapes are different, that is a big thing, and of course you can't find new Viscarias with ST handle. Also, TB-ALC has the top surface coated in some way that makes it a bit faster or harder.

Blade: Viscaria FL
FH: Tibhar MX-P
BH: Tenergy 05
I've owned both of them and had the same rubbers on them to compare them one on one. I used MX-P on forehand and T05 on backhand and TB ALC was (I sold it off very recently) just fabulous with that combination and so is Viscaria. Here is the main difference -
TB ALC is a tad-bit slower than Viscaria. This would also depend on the weight range of the blades. I had my TB-ALC weighing in at 80gms whereas my Viscaria was 89gms. One can say that the speed difference can be attributed to the weight difference. However, I have heard that generally Viscaria is the faster one.
Weight Balance - TB ALC is very nicely balanced and Viscaria is a bit head heavy.
Control - Now this is where nothing comes close to TB ALC in the ALC composite category. TB ALC is very very easy to control and is very forgiving. What it lacks in power, it makes up in the control department. Now, I am not saying that TB ALC is slow by any means. No, it certainly is not. But in comparison to Viscaria, it definitely is.

I need to comment on this. What you have seen is true for the one TB-ACL you have had compared to the one Viscaria you have had. I would not say these differences can always be seen with every example of each blade. A lot depends on the overall weight of each. When you only have two blades, one is usually going to be faster than the other, especially with that much weight difference (80 gram is very unusual for either of these blades, by the way, whereas 89 g would be about average for a Viscaria for most of its history, with an exception for the very first generation and the ones made around 2013-14, which were often lighter). On average it is hard to say which one is faster. I have owned quite a few of each (especially the Viscaria). If you had 10 blades, 5 of each, and measured speed, and put the blades in a rank order, the pattern would be random. I actually do think Viscarias feel a little softer more oftehn than not because the TB-ALC has some treatment on the outer surface of the ply that makes it a little shinier to look at.

Again, I come back that the main differences are handle shape and feel. That is not insignificant. It affects a lot of things and is a matter of preference. These threads have been going back years with people saying one or the other is faster, softer, etc. etc. etc. on the basis of small sample sizes.

O Baal master of viscaria, why have u forsaken us!!!

I've read your review on octharov true carbon (the only one in tt daily) even the seller locally says that it played like a viscaria after getting the first batch,
besides being a bit speedier than viscaria what made you chose it as your primary weapon of choice now?
