I live in Southern California (USA), where the heat can reach up to 100 degrees (F) easily in the summer. I only have room for a table in the garage, and am a little worried about how the heat might affect the table via warping. I've ordered a 18mm table (Joola Tour 1800) - in general will it be okay or might it suffer? If so, would this be a slow process over many years or happen on the first couple of hot days?

The table should be in the storage position most of the time, and back in a corner that shares walls with the house - not in direct sunlight. It's very dry out here, and the coldest it ever gets out here is 40 degrees (F) or so at nights during the winter.

Thanks for your help.

I live in a place in Oz that gets the same temps over summer and the tables here are fine, even after 10yrs of use in a club. We operate out of an tin build structure so temps get high. I would be more concerned if there was lots of moisture getting to the tables, as they are sealed, painted and treated I wouldn't worry too much unless water has direct contact with the table.

I bought a table in November, since then we've had 6 days over 100 degrees. I'm in Australia. The table is kept outside undercover, though it gets the late afternoon sun come in. I store in the upright position with a protective cover over it. The table is Radak brand but my research suggests its a copy of the Joola Tour 1800. Photos are on this forum somewhere.

I've had no problems.

I had a discussion some years back with someone in West Wyalong (outback NSW, Australia) who said they bought a table which had warped badly after a year or 2. However, that area has temps of 45C+ days in Summer on many days and nights that cool down to 15C and then pretty cold winters. And I don't know how the table was kept, but it was under a verandah (probably somewhat exposed to elements). I think if you care for a table and don't expose it to anything really harsh, it'll be fine. Storing in the folded position will also help as each half should serve as protection to the other.

If you're going to keep it outdoors get a cover made for it. Plastic woven tarp material should work.
