Wow.. I wonder what a full orchestral version would sound like. I think I hear a glass harmonica or theramin in there (but it's probably just a synthesizer... ).

Delia Derbyshire was part of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. There were no synthesizers in those days (1963), so they had to record all of the individual sounds separately, using a variety of radio based equipment to generate them initially. There was a BBC documentary about it some years back, with shots of the strips of tapes hanging from coat hooks. It was a remarkable thing. I met Ron Grainer once; he was quite pleased that I knew who he was.
