Hello,

I'm looking for a LP rubber to muck around with. What rubbers would be good (aka. control, beginner friendly) for JUST chopping topspin balls from mid court?

Also should I get it in OX or with sponge?

Ty

Just get something cheap with a thin (~0.5) sponge if it's just for testing. They will all give you as good feel of what long pimples are like, and once you develop a little further, you can look for something mroe specific to your needs.

PS Welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the suggestion haggis!

I play with normal inverted rubbers on both sides but just recently tried a friend's 'troll' bat which consists of a LP rubber which I found really fun to chop with. So I just decided that I wanted one too but I really don't know what to look for.

Just try a cheap Chinese LP like Friendship/RITC 755 or 837. Or Dawei 388D / D-1. There are many others. 755 is a very good and cheap place to start and most stores has it. If they don't have it in 0.5 mm then choose 1.0 mm instead of ox (without sponge). It should not cost more than 15 euro (5 if you order from China).

Can not be suggesting the same rubber as I play... Sanwei CODE 0.5-1.0. It's slow, not very sensitive to spin and very easy to play allround pip.

I ordered it here http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sanwei-CODE-Lon ... fresh=true with free shipping for 11€.

2nd Dawei 388D series, or any Dawei 388, including Pips Kingdom, with 0.5 to 1.5 mm sponge.

Another take,

LKT Stranger is the most easier pips I have used, for chopping, with its original 0.7 mm sponge, or custom Blutenkirsche Japan sponge.

Thanks for the input all.

Due to local stock constraints I've na4rowed it down to daiwai and milky way Neptune. Which one would be better at chopping?

Thanks

Dawei is a good one to learn with, get it in ox and thin sponge see which works for you(also good when you`ve learnt a bit )

I have a person just introduced to long pips, after trying some long pips of mine, the easiest to play is Xiying 979 OX, which has a very heavy rubber base so like .5 mm but better because slower. Cost is $9-14 depending where you buy.

Played better with 979 than 755, which has been used the most.

Dawei 388D is one of the best chopping pips out there. Very forgiving, huge back spin.
