I have been playing ping pong for about a year now and I've played with both sponge and hardbat paddles. I definitely prefer hardbat, and I'm currently using a 6$ sportcraft hardbat from Dunham's. I want to find a good quality hardbat, but after an hour or two of internet searching I came up with nothing but cheap 5-10$ hardbats. I have no experience in ordering blades and rubber, nor do I have any idea how to set up a paddle by myself in the first place. I need some advice on where I can find a nice premade hardbat paddle or how to know what kind of blade/rubber to buy and how to set up a paddle. Any advice is appreciated

The closest you will get to classic hardbat today is here: http://www.valortabletennis.com/#!

But you can buy any blade you like, and put orthodox rubbers on it. Happy to give you advice - I'm a big hardbat fan.

Cool!

http://www.valortabletennis.com/classic-store

The Kenny with the black rubber is interesting - most rubber, before Tackiness came out, was red, sometimes green or blue but I don't recall seeing any black sheets until the original Yasaka Black Power.

Note the rubber on the Kenny. It just says "Soft-D13". This pre-dates Tempest and Sriver, I think. Early 1960s, probably.
