BeGo here, newcomer level chopper. :)

accidentally found this in nearby store, in max, on the way home from weekly table tennis.

Haven't tried it in a match yet. Haven't found a review yet.

That, I think, is the original inverted Double Happiness rubber from the 1970s. They've probably improved quality since then - I bought a sheet and it delaminated on me.

I really like PF4. Superb all-round rubber. Plenty of control and spin, good for blocking, topspin and chopping. I know there's a "new" PF4, and there was an older PF4 too (PF4-1?) which is rather rare now. Good value, good quality - what's not to like?

Price. It seems to be a ten dollar rubber rather than a five dollar one. Though there are vendors offering it for less than nine.

The old PF4 packaging was somewhat crude, though nowhere as crude as Corbor's.

yups,

I never have a chance to try original PF4, so if someone have tried both original and this PF4, please put a comparison review. :D

At least it was cardboard (even if it wasn't that polished and glossy, like DHS rubber packets are these days). Corbor uses (badly printed) paper!

If I remember it right, the old PF4s from way back seemed a bit softer. The new PF4s are like brick hard. I like the old ones better.

From my recollection the old pf4 was very hard...

I can't physically try to press on the rubber to tell whether soft/hard since I'm still on the last leg of my trip out of the country.

There's an even newer packaging, it seems:

my apologies,

in my previous post, I accidentally double upload the front, and miss the back.
Anyway, after 2 hours trial on Defence Alpha, at max thickness, in Casual level play.

in short, a less tacky Geospin Tacky.

Speed / bounce slightly faster than H3 Control Version, slightly slower than Tackiness Chop 2.

Spin and spin susceptibility around Geospin Tacky level.

no lazy chop block, need full chop or overshot the table, at any range.

Easy to make ear level "overhand" chop and knee level Japanese Chop.

Quite difficult for loop on the table (although, I am certain this is the blade fault). Will test further on looping friendly blade.

But easy to slow loop from distance. :)

impossible for on the table blocking on my level, the ball shall fly to opponent face.

No hint on cracking sound and sudden ball speed increase on drivings like in H3. The sponge is so tame. note that my blade is aerodynamically challenged for driving. :P

Pushing empty ball result in pop up. I need to push faster, or just swat the ball.

The rubber certainly not a safety rubber like Pro XP. It demand committed strokes as opposed to compact strokes.

yes, tack 2 is faster than original tack chop, and,

strange but true, both pf4 and h3 is slower / less bouncy than either Tackiness Chop.

I double check it using usual ball juggle test. :)

My recollection of Tackiness Chop (from about 1980 - 36 years ago!!) was that it was so slow, you couldn't use it to attack. H3 isn't THAT slow, surely..
