Just took advantage of several simultaneous sales last night and bought another pair of sheets of 9000, a sheet of Tin Arc, a sheet of Kangaroo and a sheet of Eagle from Eacheng. And got a free sheet of Kangaroo on top of that..

Anyone notice the new sheets from Yinhe? They seem to be copying the "color coded" trend:

They've got what Yinhe is calling "macropore sponge". (Whoever was selling that big-pore 729FX should have called it "Macropore 729FX" - much cooler.. Even if it does sound like a dermatologist's nightmare..)

Does the Kangaroo rubber come with "macropod" sponge? :P

HAHAHAHA!!!!! Good one...

More discoveries. Had a look on ebay, Eacheng's selling color sheets (for the back of penhold blades). They call it "SPONGE". Which makes you wonder - if it really IS sponge, might it be useful behind OX long pips?

Also.. what's THIS???? Official Yinhe.... SANDPAPER????

If you're hankering to buy a bottle of the Tuttle "Factory Tuned Oil", and don't want to pay for shipping, get it on ebay!! Free shipping. Yeah, it's from Eacheng - you wonder why they charge for shipping if you order through AliExpress and they don't if you order through Ebay. Maybe it's a mistake, better order before they find out..

Lastly... what could you use this for? I suspect it might be useful for restoring the tack on tacky rubber.

I just found an unopened, 30-year-old 750mL bottle of medicinal grade paraffin oil in my parents' basement, so that could satisfy my boosting requirements for some time. ;)

I saw this as well, but interpreted "sticky rubber protective film" as "sticky protective film for rubber" rather than "protective film for sticky rubber".

I'm curious if this medical parrafine-oil has any boosting effect at all. It seems to be used as a laxans but I wouldn't recommend drinking it at all. I guess it's thicker than the mineral oil based parrafine-oil I use and it may even fail to be useful as lamp-oil.

You're supposed to EAT that stuff???? I'd heard of people eating petroleum jelly, but...

And you'd be right - if you hunt around on this forum you'll find an admonition to NEVER use it on tacky rubber, because (to paraphrase) it will leave the rubber SO TACKY that you won't be able to play with it properly until the tack goes down..

Doubtless you remember this:

Here's what happened, though it was using shelf paper rather than actual commercial protector sheets.

It was leftover inventory from a corner shop that my father and uncle owned for a couple of years, no doubt with the prescient intention of saving me from having to buy another bottle of Falco Long in 2018. There's a couple of bottles of insecticide in the basement, too, the kind you use to refill those old-fashioned manual-pump metal bug spray cans. Can't use those 'cos of the VOC ban, though. :P

I'm reminded about why I like Eacheng so much. My New Year's order was placed around 2:30am my time, I checked to see what Tianjin time was, they're in the same time zone. Unbeknownst to me, AliExpress time turned out to be, oh, about 16 hours behind.. so the order was recorded at 10:30am on December 31st. Which meant I wasn't eligible to receive a free Kangaroo. I got a message from them informing me of this, but they sent me a free Kangaroo anyway. They really do put the customer first, I will have to say.

So AliExpress uses which time zone?? Looks like Pacific Standard Time. Weird...
