Post subject:  Help with rubbers

Hi folks, hope you are doing good. I need some help with TT rubbers.

Apologies if there is an existing topic, I was too lazy to search, so just created a new one.

Please don't ask me how, but I ended up with 3 blades:

1. Tibhar Stratus Power Wood - This one is absolutely new.
2. DHS PG7 - This is about 4 months old. I first put DHS Skyline Mid on both FH and BH and then switched to CJ8000 Biotech 36-38, 2.2 mm, but the shopkeeper did not stick it properly and the rubbers came off.
3. Butterly Primorac Carbon - I bought this second hand from a friend when I started playing TT a bit seriously (read daily 2 hours). This is about 5 years old.

I have all the 3 blades now without rubbers.

Now, I am unable to decide on the rubbers. Let me try to explain my game. I rely mostly on FH top spin to gain my points, even a loose ball with a bit of height, I try to top spin it rather than just smash it flat. Sometimes, I play FH chops when I don't find it suitable to top spin the ball. I have long arms and over a period of time, I have developed an inherent fear of hitting the blade on the table edges, so I instinctively move back about 2-3 feet. Back hand, I mostly block or chop (BH chop also while receiving serves), back hand spin almost always seems to go into the net or beyond the table. I think that's my game.

The question is, which rubbers do I choose and I which blade should I go with at the moment. I am not to keen on buying any more blades. I think I am set for life as I read somewhere that blades typically last a lifetime and I just need to keep switching out the rubbers when they wear out.

Thanks for reading,

Kumar.

Don't think too much about the rubbers you use, You may start learning to glue rubbers on the blade on your own.
CJ8000 standard is fine on DHS PG7. You should train your backhand so that you're able to do BH top-spin as well. If needed you may replace the forehand with TG2 Skyline.

What happened to the CJ8000 biotech? Just coming off the blade due to insufficient glueing doesn't make them unusuable, or does it?

Batwings!!!! It's actually on sale right now. $24.78 (includes shipping) will get you six sheets, and they'll even give you six protector sheets with your order.

If they ask, ask for the Max (2.2mm) 40-42 degree sponge.

Thank you Red and Iskandar.

Red, I will reglue the CJ8000 rubbers that came off, thanks. Will CJ8000 suit Tibhar Stratus Power Wood also? I was thinking DHS Hurricane Neo 3.

Iskandar, for the Primorac Carbon, I will buy the 729 General A Pair, thanks a lot.

When you've learned to glue you are free to test the Stratus with the rubbers. . Good chance that it's not too different from the PG7. Water based/latex glue is fully removable, so it's easy to put them over without problems.

I personally like bouncy&stiff but I'm no classical looper.

PG7 + CJ8000 ! ----> Perfect Control + Perfect Loops !

Primorac Carbon + some kind of Tensor rubbers ? ----> Attack Beast + Smasher + Loop-Drive-Kills !

Stratus PowerWood + any rubber ----> Loop King + Chop/Block/Push Maniac !

Can anyone correct me if I am mistaken pls ? :-)
