Question, I am aware that the blade must be 85% wood, BUT, I believe that to be in reference to the lamination's of the blade... not the handle. I assume this is to avoid something like... a mostly carbon blade for example?

However, can I make my handle out of any material I wish? Or are there rules regarding handle material?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Just for clarification... so therefore the 85% rule ONLY applies to the blades lamination's then?

Yes that is correct, it only applies to the plies of the blade, not the handle pieces. There are a few blades out there by reputable manuafcturers where the handle piece is 100% non-wood, and it's perfect legal. See the TSP Fitter blades for example.
