After using EE2 and getting some dome on my rubbers, I've been using a stack of textbooks (after I glue it on) to weigh it down in order to keep the edges from peeling up. I think I remember reading a long time ago that its not good to put a lot of weight on the racket b/c the pips will sink into the sponge or something along those lines. Is this true? I've been leaving it under the books overnight and it creates a firm bond, but I wonder if their are any detrimental effets, particuarly to the long pips that happen to be on the other side

I found that if you wipe the sponge with some tissue paper, a fair bit of oil still seems to come off, even if the surface feels dry. After this I did not have much trouble gluing.

For inverted, if you clamp real hard, the pimpled do get pushed far into the sponge, so some may stick a little if there is stickyl glue on the edges (not that common)...

For long pips this is not an issue, you just have to be careful with hard pips to make sure you don't clamp too hard to break them. I've only ever heard of some Dr N SB breaking pips through hard clamping...

BTW Using books is not always a good option, since they don't always provide good pressure on all points (they tend to lean a little sometimes).

Try using a few good coats of rubber cement on the rubber and a light press. You may have to do the rubber cement thing on the rubber a few times before it behaves well. BTY Sriver FX and Takifire SP Soft were like that, had to do it several times, then good to go. Wow, what an effect EE II had on the BTY rubbers!

Thanks guys! I have been using several coats of rubber cement which works well. I'll probably just build a clamp so I'll have more even pressure rather than using the books from now on.
