As I said, i have a recently broken wrist, so not sure that anything I say is very meaningful. But, Whale II is a hard rubber, with tacky surface, and superficially very like H3 Neo. It feels a little softer out of the packet. It is easy to serve with some spin and speed, and FH loops are very good. Bear in mind that my FH loop at the moment is very restricted, as my wrist just won't turn easily in any direction, so I am mainly using a full arm motion. Also, my main blade is a Hurricane Long 3. a 7-ply all wood, rated off++ by DHS, and I have the Whale on a Stiga Maplewood NCT V, which has a harder face, but less overall power. I would expect that the Hurricane, under optimum circumstances, would enable you to do more powerful versions of the same shots, but the training Whale is a good cheap rubber, which I believe is used in Chinese academies because of its similarity to Hurricane. IE, it plays very much the same, but not so dangerously for the opponent. I hear that it is not as durable.

For the price on Aliexpress or TTNPP, it's worth trying.

Has anyone mentioned Haifu Whale? I am slowly getting back after breaking my wrist, so have been trying out cheap stuff, and Whale II seems pretty good. It's only a training version, and untuned, so i would have reasonable expectation of the factory tuned non-training version.

Can you briefly compare it to H3, please?

One thing I do know... it's bloody heavy! Seems to play OK, I put it on a 72 gram blade. Last time I tried it it seemed a trifle slow, the booster's probably worn off a long time ago. Maybe I should re-boost it. Supposedly sold by Tibhar (IIRC) as Grip-S, the likes of Feng Tianwei were using it. I always thought it was mean to be Haifu's answer to H3, or at least it filled the same niche, so it should be similar, at least.

Has everyone forgotten Thor's?? When I first started playing again there was a bunch of discussion about Palio's Tensors - Thor's, Macro Era, etc. Thor's was the tacky one IIRC, and it's relatively cheap as Tensors go. It IS a genuine Made in Germany ESN Tensor, too, it's just, well, OLD. OLD rubber isn't any good, right?? Unless you're talking Tenergy 05, that NEVER seems to become obsolete.
