You know, this guy has posted all of five times, and every single time he posts a link to Sports Flu. Maybe he owns the website and is trying to drive traffic there. Anyhow.. here's a rather startling statement from Sports Flu:

3. Fake Table Tennis Balls
Balls are made of celluloid, not plastic! This is a major problem because it is really easy to fake. By the matter of time, one can reckon it. Balls shouldn’t be soft. While playing one can easily recognize the difference. DHS 3-Star is the best, but there are many copies of them, which is horrible if you play with them."

You wonder where the writer's been hiding the last two years...

The best table tennis Rubber is Tenergy by Butterfly, and it’s pricey too. Many online stores give them at discounted price which is not genuine.
How to spot the difference?
Packaging plays a main role here, Original Butterfly products have holograms all over their packaging.
Sponge- The Fake Rubber will not have a good quality sponge. The colour and texture will help you to spot the difference. For e.g Tenergy always has an orange colour sponge.

Don't know about in India, but fake Tenergy is painfully obvious. It's got about as much friction as anti and comes with a Chinese-style peel-off sheet. It's not even usable, while $5 Corbor is. And if it sells for $20 it's gotta be fake.

Really easy way to avoid fakes - buy from reputable dealers (Table Tennis 11, Zeropong, Eacheng). Don't know how reputable dealers are in India, though (Sports Flue is in India - maybe India is awash in fake Tenergy and disreputable dealers).
