how could i remove permanent marker from a table tennis blade? it's on the small surfaces of ayous wood outer layer (the small triangular sides next to the rubber).

i found some websites that say baking soda + tooth paste nicely removes marker from wood, but i sense this is probably going to be much too abrasive for a blade.

Unless the part near the handle was lacquered a permanent marker can easily penetrate the entire top layer of wood, your idea of buffing it out is not a bad one but it is possible you could chase the ink between the grains through the entire top ply, I would leave it alone and just play:P

not lacquered, but the marker was also not applied with a lot of force, and it was a rather dry (on ink) marker with a thin tip. you think it's worth a careful try?

taking a little thickness of the neck will not kill your blade, if it really bothers you give it a try, just know when to stop :D

If you can't remove it, black it out all the way (both triangles). Looks cooler that way!

i considered this, but the main reason i'm removing the market is because marker doesn't even really stick well to the outer ply. if i were to fill it in all black i'd need to use something else i think or it might end up looking even worse.

found a good solution: bought a small 2mm thick coaster made out of cork and gonna cut it up and sand it down to make some nice looking covers for those spots. might actually improve grip/feel a bit, and cork is hella light.
