Hi,
Just wanted to know everyones thoughts on dampening sponges. I intend to glue an ox short pimple topsheet on 1.5mm thickness dampening sponge which is available from stores online.
Has anyone tried this? What were your results? Did the dampening sponge have an effect on your strokes especially short blocking and controlled punching and counter hitting? Id like to know whether these ideas can be put into practice.

Not tried, but I'd be interested in the result. Have occasionally thought about doing the same thing with a sheet of LP, thinking it might result in an excellent blocking rubber with some disruptive effects (wobble, reversal etc). But I read that a dampening sponge will reduce disruption, so no real advantage over anti. Still curious about trying it though. I suppose if it was likely to work well there would already be manufacturers doing it.

The problem with the dampening `sponges`I tried is the lack of elasticity which dosn`t help when spinning the ball and kills lp effects so you can become a sitting duck.I had one which was like felt(Toni Hold) and the other was stiff like card(Zero).I wanted to try the Feint 3 sponge under other lp`s but couldn`t remove it :headbang:
The only elastic dead sponge I could find was under 9000 Electro def (Bribar) which steams off ok and has some elasticity,I will be experimenting with this in the summer
