I have minor knee issues after playing a couple times with intensity on standard tt floors. I want to get proper shoes. But my feet are very picky and I gotta try them on first.

I live in houston. Quick search doesn't tunn up any tt stores.

ive actually been looking myself as i need some.
the easiest to get are usually asic gel rockets, or other indoor asics. down here they have completely disappeared though...

indoor squash, badminton, volleyball all work, but aren't as laterally tough if you do modern tt footwork (eg, if you rip the sides of your runners off the sole within a few sessions). These have a thicker sole and are more fore lunging and jumping, but really they work fine. You have a bigger range when you start looking at volleyball shoes in particular.

You could also use futsal shoes in a pinch, but as an anecdote I've always ended up having toenail issues as the toebox is way too hard for lunging/lateral movements

I suspect unless you are 2200+ or so, you don't really need dedicated TT shoes (which are made by Asics/Mizuno anyway, even if they are labeled as Butterfly, Joola, Tibhar etc.).

So, get yourself any volleyball, squash, badminton, futsal, handball shoe you can find. Amazon is your friend (Asics Gel Rockets are pretty awesome and cheap...).

As a side note: I find Gel Rockets actually work better on 'real' TT floors most amateurs are playing on: wood, concrete etc. Yellow gum soles that TT shoes have are likely better for Gerfloor and such, but that's not what I'm playing on, so...

I do play on gerflor on weekends. I found that my sneakers are a bit heavy for that level of grip. Tt shoes are lighter.

Seems mizuno wave drive has good reviews. But their American site doesn't even list TT as a sport...

Like I said I want to try the shoes on first so no online

Maybe will just find some light indoor shoe

UPDATE: I got the mizuno wave drive 8 from TT11. I figured since TT shoes look pretty low to the ground and are soft-ish, they would have fewer fit problems. (I have a large 'protrusion' on my right ankle.)

Got them today and tried practicing at home (carpet). They hug the feet pretty soft and comfortable like my Puma sneakers, but the lightness and lower center of gravity make moving a bit easier. Not to mention a bit of mental boost... it might make me more willing to practice footwork this weekend at the club. :D We'll see how the grip is

I'm glad I adapted my thinking rather quickly

UPDATE: the shoes worked well on Gerflor. I moved around a little better. And I suddenly saw quite a few people with TT shoes...

I'm pretty sure volleyball shoes etc. that have been suggested will work great tho on non-Gerflor. Gerflor really is almost sticky.

I've been wearing these for a while now:

https://www.aliexpress.com/store/produc ... 24656.html

But they don't seem to have my size anymore, unfortunately... We play on a ceramic tile floor, and it works pretty well. Except when it rains... if there's any water on the floor I switch to my old fake Butterflies (reminds me... I have to glue the soles on those again...).

Here,

You can buy the best shoes for table tennis from Indestructible shoes. I like its shoe quality which is excellent & the griping of the shoes is perfect. Shoes are very soft & available in various colors. For more information, you can easily find out. https://indestructibleshoes.com/products/adio-black
Thanks...

Those Adios look like factory work shoes. Are you sure they are suited for table tennis?? This website does sell other models - which would you recommend?
