You could try putting a wet rag on just the damaged part for 10 minutes. Then lightly clamp the area between two wood blocks for a couple days. Might work.

A few weeks ago I hit my blade pretty hard on the end of the table causing a dent at the end which has also caused the top ply to lift slightly due to the end being pushed in a bit, perhaps 0.5 of a mm. Note this is nothing new, its a pretty standard dent but perhaps just a fraction deeper. It was a hard knock. It now means when putting on a rubber, there is a little raised bit right at the end of my bat where the top ply is a fraction higher. I'm wondering whether to fix it or not. One option is to sand the raised bit but it will mean its likely to completely sand away the top ply in that little part. Since its not likely to affect performance it wouldn't matter but wondering if the top ply is removed, is it more likely to cause splintering or cracking elsewhere. Should I sand or just leave it? Note that I'm likely to be selling the bat to a club member so on one hand sanding would make it look nice but at the same time don't want to be deceiving them. |

Fixing the blade a little or a lot doesn't equal deceiving people. I have many blades with cracks and dents small to big... Some I got it fixed properly, some I just use super glue to hold it together... Some of them fixed properly or not I sell to others... Posting a photo of the part in question would go a long way for some of us to offer better suggestion on what could be done. instagram: rokphishtt |

I know some people will fill small dents with something, then sand it down till it's flat. If it's in the middle of the blade surface, this seems worthwhile. Does anyone have experience with the best material used to fill the dent? |

When I was about 14 years old, I cracked the top of my blade (not just splintered - actually cracked ). The two sides were slightly misaligned - I used resin filller to fill the gap, slightly overfilling, and then sanding down both sides. 30 years later, the bat is still going strong... Where the ply has lifted or a small piece has detached, I just use superglue to put it back |

The dent is flush on the end of the blade, the bit you cover with edge tape. What it has done though is that as there is a small amount of week that has been compressed due to the knock, the top ply has been forced upward slightly. Note that its all still attached, there is no splinter. Its just a typical bang on the table but a good one.

In the end I just sanded the raised but a little and it was fine. Didn't with about using filler on the end as edge tape covers and wasn't that bad anyway. |
