Blade: 729 C-5 FL
FH: 729 Super FX Max
BH: DHS H3 Neo 2.15
Hello everybody. For a while now I have been trying to learn rpb with a cpen blade and I have learned that the best setups always come heavy. Because I have relatively (who am I kidding, very) weak arms I have found that the best solution is simply to step away from the table so I have time to complete a full swing when I make contact with the ball. Surprisingly, when this does work, it manages to put my club opponents in very difficult situations because most of them are inexperienced with counterlooping, etc. but there is my problem: I am using a relatively stiff blade with a hard feel designed for mid-distance (at most) quick attack style, and since I’m quite an EJ (still don’t know what EJ stands for) I think it’s time for me to start shopping again. So my question is, to the intelligent folks of OOAK TT Forum: What type of blade/specific model will particularly excel at full-swing, long distance-mid distance, Chinese style brush loops? I know already that Xu Xin, whose style is much like the one I just described, uses Stiga Intensity NCT, but that blade costs almost $100, and I’m hoping to find something less expensive.

Thank you in advance,
Coymanneemus

Do they make the Viscaria in penhold?

In any case... you can find "clones" of pretty much any blade here:

https://playapingpong.aliexpress.com/st ... 70285.html

Intensity clone:

Mind you, these are NOT cheap. Just cheapER. And don't ask us how good they are, I doubt anyone's actually tried one. Looks pretty nice, though...

By the way, do Chinese brush loop? Not that I've seen... The classic brush loop was the one by Dell Sweeris (the photos were used in quite a few table tennis books in the 1970s..).

In the budget price range (say <$25) you can look for Friendship F-4. I sold mine to a friend a few years ago, but I recall that it did work well for penhold. It may be discontinued (can't find it anywhere at the moment), and I am not even sure that they made it with short handle (it would surprise me if they didn't). F-2 and V-2 are quite similar to the F-4, I think, and also in that price range.

That's a brush loop.. though I can't recall seeing the Chinese do it much. And back in the 1970s people did it with Sriver (not tacky) and with the 38mm ball lots of top players had to use anti to return it, at least in the beginning.

I seem to recall the M8 being sold in penhold, but I can't remember where I saw it...

Hi Rokphish2, considering that Iskandar recommends Viscaria, does it mean that Taksim is a good blade for looping ?
