Our hospital, The National Rehabilitation Hospital (NRH) in DC (https://www.medstarnrh.org) is in need of some OOAK help. Our focus is on Physical Medicine and Rehab, Sports Medicine, and research. We are a non-profit hospital.

Our current table is used with patients who are rehabbing from many ailments, including brain injury, stroke, spinal injury, cardiac ailments, orthopedic, autoimmune, and cancer. It's used by children who are in the Peds rehab unit for the most part, but Adults are making use of it as well. From a rehabilitation perspective, TT is being used as an amazing resource for helping people with exercise, visual deficits, cognitive deficits, physical deficits, pain and psych issues. It's amazing the difference this sport can make to someone who has had a brain injury, and now suffers from Apraxia and has lost propreoception on one side of their body. Or as a form of distraction from pain, serving as a method of reducing opiod usage.

Our staff has also recently become very interested in TT. We are currently having a staff tournament at my hospital, and the people who actually play bring their own custom or good premades, while the basement players use the available premades that have zero grip (They are either the hardbat pips type, or the inverted almost anti type bats.) Among the basement players, there is a feeling that it's unfair to use real rubbers against them, so I wanted to give them some decent setups so they can see how it would actually be WORSE if they had a paddle like mine.

Thus, I am reaching out to my OOAK and TTD brothers to see if you would be willing to donate anything to NRH so that our equipment is commensurate to the uptick in interest from both a clinical perspective, and recreation perspective. I am also tinkering with an idea to do some research along with our Therapy departments to see how TT can contribute to patient outcomes, as well as a possible PARA Team. I have always talked smack about being an ambassador of the sport, and I think this might be a way of doing so.

The Basketball and Rugby teams are champions in their respective leagues, but all of these programs are amazing, and I would like to see Table Tennis being offered here as well!

If anyone is sending something big, please contact me prior so I can make arrangements to have it accepted at the hospital. If the packages are small, I will have you send it to my house and I will take it to the hospital. (Gotta keep the mail room happy).

Good point! I should have been more considerate of our international board. Let me just make sure my ducks are in a row with regard to monetary donations. Not for profits in the US are scrutinized quite a bit.
