It's been almost 20 years since I've played, and in the tiny town I lived in, we only knew about butterfly, donic and stiga, as those were the only brands available, and you had to drive 9 hours to buy anything table tennis related.
Now that I want to get back into table tennis, I started looking at butterfly blades and rubbers. But, the more I research about blades and rubbers, the more overhwhelming it becomes as I had no idea there were so many good brands. I am amazed at how offensive and diverse the game has gotten; I have been watching a lot of table tennis as of late and am very impressed with the level of play.


I used to play with a donic rubber on FH and butterfly LP on BH. I am a c-penhold player. My play style was close to mid range, and used gear that had more control than speed.
I am looking for a setup that has good control and spin if that's possible.
Also, does anyone recommend any good places to play here in Chicago?
