Short pimples strong point is to counter spin, an inverted anti spin rubber works with the same idea. Are they any different?
How about a very old rubber with no spin at all, wouldn`t it work pretty much like an anti spin?

Short pips are very different from the anti. I'm not sure what you mean by "counter spin".
Yes, a very old rubber would behave a lot like the anti.

I know they look different but both are insensitive to incoming spin and rely on ball placement and speed variation to score.
Does their difference affect play style?
If you change one for the other and both rubbers have same speed what do you feel different?

Some short-pops are less sensitive to incoming spin, but not as much, as compared to most Antis ...

Most Short-pips are quite capable of generating their own spin.. Most typical Antis are not very good at generating their own spin... Although, nowadays there some some manufacturers who claim to have Hybrid Antis, capable of generating some spin...

Antis, typically, are good at reversing your opponent's spin ...and although, some short-pips do reverse spin, its not as much as Antis...

I'd say, short-pips can be more versatile, when compared to Antis

Short pips are less insensitive to incoming spin than inverted is, and produces less spin than inverted. BUT it does these things to a much lesser degree than does anti. Anti is also slow, while short pips are actually quite fast and is usually used for offensive shots.

Classic anti as opposed to frictionless is probably more close to a slow medium pip than short pips as regards the stroke style, level of spin/reversal. In fact I plan to try a sheet shortly as most medium pips such as Keiler are on the fast side fro short blocking and chopping.
