I do not know about that particular bat but I have salvaged many premades. If you decide to try different rubbers, the least expensive is to get two Lightning rubbers at $5 each. The most you would lose is $10 and some time. You "Might" end up with a reasonable bat.
Getting the old rubbers off might be a challenge. If they used Permenant glue like many premades, it can be removed.
Pull the old rubbers off. If it is permenant glue, alot of the sponge will stay on the wood. Use the old rubber like sandpaper. Put the blade, (NOT the handle) flat on a table. Using the rubber, rub HARD on the blade face. It will remove the old sponge and glue. This has worked on every premade I have tried it on. It leaves the wood smooth and like new. "Then SEAL the blade with a good sealer like poly. One coat should do it.
Put the blade flat on a table, not the handle, or you will crack the blade when you push with the "rubber sandpaper".
If you try it, it will probably work but your blade may be the first to shred. I am betting it will work. Just be aware you "might" be buying a new one. :D :D :D

Hi hookshot,

Thanks for the tip. I tried peeling off the rubber and it was reasonably easy. I just pull off this white layer of the rubber which i suppose is the sponge, and the whole piece came out nicely. I can see the wood in perfect shape underneath. Cheers!

I suppose he is referring to the 729 FX Lightning.

Hi aurelio,
You are on the way!
Since the rubber came off pretty easy it is a sign that the premade is of a higher quality than most.
If you have not glued rubbers before, it is not hard and there are many threads on this site that will give you the details.
If the premade is not smaller than most blades, you can transfer the rubber to a new blade at a latter date if you decide to buy one. While the 729 rubber is not "top of the line", it is still a very servicable rubber and is alot tougher than some of the new stuff. The 729 rubber is capable of doing any stroke including brush loops. If you are learning the basics, 729 is a VERY good rubber. It has good control for blocking and looping. Some of the "Hi Tec" rubbers will drive a beginner nuts just trying to keep it on the table.
Have fun! :D

I use the Venus and that is a good step up from Lightning. It triples your investment but still very reasonable. :D
