I have noticed one problem in my penhold grip: a pain in my index finger in the point of contact with the edge of the blade. When I do a forehand or rpb stroke, it creates a big pressure on my index finger because of momentum of the racket during swing. I sand the blade a little bit under the index finger, but I still have this problem.



And when I am doing rpb, I release pressure from index finger, but I press the blade with a thumb a little bit more at the same time to open up the racket angle,, so again, preassure on that contact point of index finger and the edge of the blade remains.



What should I do: to sand a blade little more or there is something wrong with my grip?

Definitely sand it down a bit, at least round off the sharp edges slightly. If you feel a bit more adventurous you can create a bit more of a divot where your index finger sits and smooth it around

The first one is correct I believe, If you sand paper the blade heavily you wont feel any pain!
Take those pics as an example.. look how they customize them but after all it is personal preference.

ALSO this collection helped me correct my grip a bit.


I think here they loosen the grip to use more wrist.

I found one photo of Wang Hao's racket and put it beside photo of my racket, so I can compare it. And I found that two rackets seem to have very different shape near the handle. I hope I did this right:



I noticed that Wang Hao lock the tip of his index finger on the slantly top of the handle when he is doing rpb, am I right? If it is so, then I will have to remove this extra wood near the handle to do that.
What do you think?

I had the same problem with my new Yasaka blade. However, since it was relatively thin, I was reluctant to remove material. So I carved a bit of basswood into a nice chamfered shape, and epoxied it on. Now my finger has more area to rest on, and the blade hasn't been compromised. It's worked out well! Here is a picture:

Recently a cpen player (USATT >2200 rating) from Hong Kong visited our club and he let me examine his blade. In addition to modifications similar to that of Wang Hao shown above, he had also substantially narrowed the "throat" of the handle (i.e., the circumference) right where the edge of the blade starts to flare out to accommodate his finger. Sorry I don't have a photo to share.
