This morning they arrived, I've got it on 2mm version (1,2mm sponge), red colour. Sponge is surprisingly bright red, reacts to regular glue with a little dome. Pips are a little wider than TSP Millitall II, about same height and soft, conical shape. I will test this rubber tomorrow and get an initial impression.

Here's the photos :

Hi Nittaku

Thanks for posting the pictures.

Tonight i will post the pictures of the armstrong attack 3M. Looking at the pictures they look alike. The only difference right now is the sponge. Mine is white/yellow.

Maybe the pips are wider? The 3M has 1,2 mm long pips and 1,8 mm wide pips.

wow, looks nice, cant wait to hear your review on it, do you think i will play more like a SP to an LP (mid pips speaking) or vice versa?

Being wider than TSP Millitall II I would say they will act more as a SP, but anyway my SP history is really short... used Baxter D25 for a really short time (no more than 1 month) and flirted with Friendship 563 for a week but no more.

From the experience with Militall II (on 0,5mm) This one will be nicer on BH drives (Militall got almost no power as the sponge was so thin) and counters, let's see how it reacts con chops and defense, heard some good things related to the control with this rubber.

brokkie, this 8M has about 0,7mm long (If package claims are right as it says 2mm total thickness and 1.2mm sponge) and ~1.5mm wide pips.

I think you are wrong! You received the 2 mm sponge. The pips are 1,2 mm long.

Here are the pictures of the attack 3. They look the same.

Well, my measures are not fully scientific but I'm pretty sure about the pips being shorter than 1mm and the sponge being thicker than 1,2mm and by no way the sponge measures a full 2mm, as I use that sponge thickness on inverted and this sponge is no way near 2mm. The number on the right top corner of the package is the total thickness of the rubber and I'm pretty sure about that as I've contacted Iruiru about it and they assured me that it was the total thickness of the rubber sheet, ordered 2mm as they have 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5 and 4 as options on their web.

Hmmm. :? :?: Real strange. If you look at my pictures and the picture i uploaded from the side you can see that the sponge of the armstrong is 1,5 mm (compared to the 2,2 of the gambler) as it is written on the right top corner of the cardboard package. And the pips are 1,2 mm. If you are right my sponge should have been 0,3 mm. :(

Anyway i'm looking forward to your review. The armstrong attack 8 is hardly available in Europe.

You've got the 8M "M" version with wide pimples. There is also an "S" version with narrow pimples, and thats the one I used in OX.

Well, I'm not using it now as I'm finishing my preparation stage for the league, but I can share some lights. I've used the pips 3/4 times and I can say It's pretty effective on hitting, it doesn't generate too much spin on its own and it's not too sensitive to incoming effects. Didn't try serving with it, but lifting against backspin could be done easily, chopping far from the table requires a good hand as the rubber is faster than long pips and needs a different arm motion & bat angle. Control sensation was higher on Militall II, but that one got 0,5mm less sponge than the Armstrong.

Definitely, it acts more as a SP rubber than a LP, blocks kill the spin giving a dead ball.

Hey, NiTTaKU , I am glad you are still keeping Long A as your main weapon.

Good luck in your coming league play, show them both your handsome eye glass and Long A and be proud of it. :) :)

The Armstrong Attack 3M is like to Armtrong Attack 8M? which is most suitable for a hit.
