Hey pips friends

I often have the problem that a certain long-pips-rubber doesn't fit to a certain blade. So I began to look for the reason. One reason could be that the springiness of the pips-necks doesn't fit to the catapult of the blade. If I play with a fast blade and a rubber with fast and non-elastic pips-necks I have great problems to control the ball. So I guess, that it's better to use more (softer) bouncier pips necks with a fast blade, because the blade/ball-touch is longer and the control better.

So I started an online survey to get infos of many pips players in terms of rating the pips-springiness. I would be great if many of you could rate his own long-pips rubber to get an objetive ranking.

Follow this link to the survey ---> Survey

Some results of the survey ---> Results (regularly updated)

Cheers, Martin

That Survey link does not seem to work for me? Perhaps you need to be registered for it to work?

I think it is true that it's better to use more (softer) bouncier pips necks with a fast blade, because the blade/ball-touch is longer and the control better. Now, I understand the reason for the good control created by Friendship 837.

Be carefull - 837 has medium-elastic pips-necks and should be play on a medium-bouncy blade 8)

Thanks Martin for the advice about the usage of 837 (OX). How does it compare with Neptune (OX)? Do these two rubbers behave in a similar (or different) fashion? Does the colour of these rubbers affect their behaviour?

There's only one selection for SE7EN L.. There are 3 different versions of that rubber..
Some of the results seem a little off.. I find Kokutaku Tuple 911 fairly hard and not medium.. I also wouldn't put Meteor 8512 in the harder pips category.. I find that one fairly medium..

The more people participate in the survey, the more accurate the result will hopefully be. I've updatet the results. Now 18 players have voted.

Same rubber, so many different opinions.
Looks like other than Grass D-Tech, everybody has a different evaluation on the springiness of the pips. :?

Hey pips freaks

The survey seems to be finished. In addition I made my own ranking with more then 50 long pips rubbers. I get the results by comparing the springiness of the pips between the rubbers with my fingertips. The intetion of the ranking is to get "objective" infos about the long pips that helps to finde a suitable blade. My tests showed that soft and bouncy pips fit to faster blades and vice versa.

Very springy
Meteor 91-1 57
TT Master Punto 57
BTY Feint Soft 59
Donic Alligator 59

Springy
Amsir Surprise 61
BTY AG 61
Double Fish 1615 61
Xiom Guillotine S 61
TSP Curl P3 Alpha R 63
Amsir Flutter 65
BTY FL II 65
DHS Cloud & Fog III 65
Joola Shark 65
Giant Dragon Meteorie 67
Milky Way Neptune 67
Tibhar Grass 67
Amsir Sensation 69
BTY FL III 69
DHS Cloud & Fog III 69
Giant Dragon Giant Long 69
Globe 979 69
Joola Octopus 69
Joola Orca 69
Juic Leggy R 69
TT Master Fireproof II 69

Mid-springy
Donic Akkadi L2 71
Hallmark Frustration 71
Palio CK531A 71
Friendship 755 73
Meteor 9012 73
Tibhar Grass D.TecS 73
Tibhar Grass Ultra 73
TT Master Fireproof 73
Bomb Talent 75
DHS C-8 77
Hallmark Phoenix 77
Kokutaku 911 77
Tibhar Extra Long 77
TSP Curl P1-R 77
Dr. Neubauer Monster Classic 79
Meteor 71-2 79
Milky Way 955 79
Stiga Destroyer 79

Non-springy
Dawei Saviga V 81
Donic Piranja FD-Tec 81
Dawei 388D-1 83
Friendship 837 83
Dr. Neubauer Boomerang Classic 85
Meteor 8512 85
Quo Qiu Miracle MG 85

Very non-springy
Xi Ying 979 93
TSP Curl P-H 97

Hope, that could be helpfully, to find the right blade to your prefered rubbers. Don't forget that a pips rubber is only as good as it fits to the blade.

Martinspin, it may be good exercise to make a list of blades which will fit to the following types of long pimple rubbers:
. Very springy
. Springy
. Mid-springy
. Non-springy
. Very non-springy
