As shown in the pic, there´s something over his backhand rubber, that it probably helps him with the slippery problem of sweaty fingertips...

Do you know what it is?
Any affordable reachable product?

Thx in advance,
Cheers

He probably just scratched and roughened the surface of the rubber.

I think it's roughened.
It's not a stick on thing like, say, Yoshida Kaii's white finger grip thingy.

Applying common-sense, I agree with you.

But surely that is altering the playing characteristics of part of the rubber? He clearly uses that side of the blade to strike the ball.

but by that reasoning the majority of backhand rubbers where your finger rubs is illegal too :P

I believe the rule makes allowance for accidental wear and tear / deviations

I think many of the top guns can get away with things more than jo average, the rules say "no phsical or chemical change", and things like about the no overhang rule where the rubber ends on the blade, in therory not even 1mm is allowed

If one is allowed to 'roughened' a part of the rubber for better grip, then surely one can 'smoothen' a part of the rubber for comfort. I am referring to removing some of the lp pimples where the fingers rest to make more comfortable. So question is, if say Joo Se Hyuk were to happen to rest his fingers on some pimples and feels uncomfortable, would he be allowed to remove those pimples? Would be interesting in fact to see some players do that and see what the referees rule :?:
