Its been a while since I have posted a topic, I have been chopping a while with 802 with a 1.5 50 degree sponge and all speed blade. An I have been wandering about switching over to long pips, any thoughts about me switching over.

Have you considered one of the following styles:

1. LP on FH for chopping. Add an inverted rubber on RPB for attack.

2. LP FH and SP twiddle. SP can attack (on FH or RPB).

Style 1 would be interesting and can be very effective. There were some very good Chinese CPen choppers in the 1960's and 1970's. But they did not have RPB at that time or the RPB was only starting at that time.

Yes, I have but I have issues with my RBP technique. Also I wanted to see how far I can go before converting to a more modern defender style. I cause a lot of problems for my opponents when I chop, I was just wandering about if long pips or short pips are better.

Long pips are generally slower and allow you to control heavy spin better. You won't be able to generate much spin yourself though, and attacks will be much harder, although more disruptive if you can master it.

I think LPs would be better when combined with a inverted rubber, whereas is you only use the single rubber, I'd go with the short pips.

I tried the new Giant Dragon "short pips" which are actually medium pips. You can hit with them reasonably well and of course they're great for defending. I got them in 2.0 and they weren't fast, despite what the package reads. IF you read the package you'll think you're getting an ultra-fast, spinny short pip! Not the case at all. Anyways, regarding your question I'd go with a medium pip. Or get two blades, one with LP, one with SP.

Well the other night I was playing with a long pip rubber on my forehand, and it seemed to work pretty well but some times the ball would go into the net when I chop it, an I dont know why that happens because when I chop right or left I would chop underneath the ball hard with a lot of friction, any theory about why this happens would be great.

I think, it's more viable if you which too continue a def approach to change to SH, and add a lp on the BH.

I have just come across the name of a LP CPen Chinese player. I will call him Mr. Huang.
Copy and paste this and then search for some videos. There are matches of him playing LGL and Kim Taek Soo, I think.
His name is 黄建疆.

I have come across people who has told me my style is not viable, but after I have played them they shake my hand and say 'if anyone can do it you can'. An thank you shaolintt for the suggestion.

there is a penhold chopper at the pttc club and he uses a unknown origin bat with DHS cloud and fog 3 on his FH and gambler four kings on his backhand. he can attack quite fine with the cloud and fog 3.
