This is of interest to me. Well, specifically knowing the lesser known manufacturers of blades. I mean, there was a discussion from a chap who made his own blades, so there must be workshops around the world that produce their own indigenous blades.

Okay, to get to the punch. I was wondering if anyone has ever come across a manufacturer large or small that produces blades in Finland. The country is rich in quality timbers and Nordic craftsmanship, like Swedish Stiga and Donic, are legendary.

Any clues?

Never heard of one in Finland... the blade maker does not really have to be in the same country as the timber source, does it?

Ummmm ... well, in this case it kind of does. Ummmm ... you see, I'd rather have Finnish materials made by Finnish hands. I know it sounds a bit racist, and I suppose it kind of is, but then you have to understand the difficult relationship Finland has had with Sweden. Look, the truth of it is is that I don't really care about race relations cos we're all basically the same. And I realise that my comments will get under the nose of those slightly more enlightened than me, especially Swedes. Hey, I have plenty of Swedish friends. But I would like to support my heritage where I can. Failing that I will continue on my merry way and just be happy using my Chinese made/Japanese designed Dawei, anyway. Just thought I'd put my head in a noose.

I will repeat that I have no race issues and that I was just curious to know if any Finns were out of their saunas making table tennis blades.

Beer (Olut) and grilled fish, anyone?

Nothing wrong with that IMO. We all know that certain countries make better quality goods (in general) than others. If you think the Finnish make better stuff, or wish to support them, I can't see anything wrong with that! I still can't help you find one though

My goodness. Click on "about our store". Lots of INTERESTING pictures. Wonder what all that stuff piled on the sidewalk outside the store is - stuff on sale?? Definitely a must-visit if you ever go to Osaka.
