The friendship 802-40 is likely to be a good option, as it's a very spinny short pip and quite versatile, and not too expensive.

Looping is always going to be harder with SP (compared to inverted), but if you do want to loop this rubber would be one of the better ones...

I use Butterfly Raystorm, and find it a bit easier to control than 802-40

When I used to have short pips on my forehand, one of them I used was 802-40. Given how relatively spinny it is for a short pip, it still allowed me to do a bit of looping.

Currently I use Dr.Neubauer Pistol for my F/H. I would said it's the best F/H rubber for me. It give me a lot of speed & spin when I want. It's also provide some effect when blocking also

I agree with that. The 2 best SP rubbers (amongst the many I have tried) are Pistol 2.0mm and JUIC Offense Ultima 1.5mm and the best Medium Pips (which gives both hitting capabilities as well as a wobbly block and some spin reversal (not as much as Long Pips of course) is the Friendship 563-1 1.5mm Special Edition).

If I compare the Pistol and the JUIC (I have each on it's own blade as I have 2 x Darker Speed 90 CPEN's) I would state the following
1. Softer: Pistol
2. More Spin: Pistol
3. More Speed: JUIC
4. Easier service return: JUIC
5. More control: About the same

The JUIC works best for me against most players but I think that this is based on my playing characteristics.

The 563-1 gives good blocking and easy service return but the control is a bit less so again it depends on the percentage of your hitting/blocking on which if the 3 rubbers would be best for your game.

There is a coach at my club visiting for a couple of months from the Hubei Province team in China. Ye Lei is about a 2600 player by the US rating system. He plays SP on his forehand, and inverted Donic F1 on his BH. His FH rubber is 802-40, and his attack is devastating, including strange loops and really fast flat hits. I am not sure how he does it. It tried it on my BH and prefer Raystorm, but backhands and forehands are very different strokes, so my experience may not translate.

There is a women from the Singapore team, in the top 20 in the world, who uses Spectol from TSP on her forehand. I have seen tapes of her, and she is quite amazing.

Pistol will be banned next year, but Juic Offensive will still be legal.

Is there any proof that Pistol will be banned, as it has a lot of friction?
In the Neubauer website they only mention their Long Pips.

See the ITTF PDF list linked from this thread. There could still be changes, hopefully there will. It's looking like a circus at the moment.

Regarding Pistol having a lot of friction- very strangely Joola's Tango Ultra, perhaps the spinniest short pip in existance, is also currently marked as soon-to-be-illegal...!? The current list is supposed to be based on science, but looks more like a dog's breakfast.

The Pistol has no "cross symbol" in the ittf 28B list, it is just categorized as beeing a rubber with pimbles on the outside.

That's what I thought, it would be strange for Pistol to be banned. I would not of course lose any sleep over it as I found the JUIC Offense Ultima 1.5mm to be much better! Easier to hit through spin and do not really miss the extra spin of Pistol when I can hit almost anything :)
