Found something rather interesting on another forum. What do you guys think? Seems to eliminate traditional Penhold blocking, which isn't good if you ask me.

Well, it's interesting to say the least. I wish he'd post some match videos as well.

Right now he's only rated around USATT 1600, which isn't really bad, but it'd also be nice to have a higher level RBH penhold player try it out and comment.

looks awkward and ungainly to me.
And especially difficult to flat block close and lift the ball away from the table.

hmmm strange he made the grip larger. i tend to file mine down so that it doesnt hurt.. ... might make my own one with cork just to test it

This set up may work well for some, but I don't think it will be for me personally.
It will change the balance of the blade.
I will lose control of the blade angle because it limits movements of my fingers and wrist.

I use a cutdown acoustic and flatten/dish the bottom half. So it's a thin and narrow handle. easy to rotate in the hand.

Not sure what you mean here. If you take another look at the two different kinds of grip one can employ using the SuperCPen, on this page http://www.supercpen.com/how-to-grip-the-supercpen.html, you many change your mind.



If it hurts your hand, that is most likely the racket is moving in your hand. The idea of the wider handle is to increase the contact area on you hand to improve stability so it won't move in you hand. It also give you are large leverage to make controlling the racket angle easier. If you fight over a spone with someone, would you grap the handle or the spone? Although the handle is wide, but is thin. It weighs slightly lighter (at same lenght) than the handle it replaced on my HHao. Weight balance change is minimum. I am not sure why you think it limits the movements of your wrist, because it does not -- I can use my wrist with the SuperCPen as much as I could with a traditional CPen. The difference is that I never feel it is going to fly off my hand when it gets sweety. With minimal pressure, I can get a secure grip of it so I can keep my hand relaxed for smooth swings.

These all may sound counter intuitive. But I believe most poeple will fine these to be the case if they try it.

After seeing some reviews and what not, i might just try one out. Everything i've read about this new innovation seems positive. I'll let you guys know once i've gotten hold of one.
