OOAK Table Tennis Forum

I've accumulated quite a collection of (new) sample rubbers that I'll probably never use, so I though it might fun to run some fun competition here on the forum, where the winner(s) get a free rubber.

I was hoping for some good ideas on what type of competitions we could run here, something that would be fun to do... so any ideas?

Why not 'sell' them in return for a donation to an agreed charity? Say the recent Japanese Tsunami fund or one I saw today, sightsavers.org (link from memory)? Not quite so much fun, but a good deed done.....

You could set a list of questions - say 10 in total, all of which relate to the forum or functions of the forum

That way people might be encouraged to explore what the software has to offer within this forum and navigate around here better and find hidden gems.

You could end with a tie breaker question eg In 50 words or less explain to someone who has never played table tennis why you think they should take it up.

Or you could just give me all the rubbers for testing and your problem of what to do with them would be solved

How about embedding a heavily pixelated picture of a pro table tennis player (past or present) and the first one to guess wins. If no one guesses correctly, the picture will become less pixelated every 2-3 days. One guess per member per day.

Select a word that only you know Haggisv and use it in your posts over a selected period (say a fortnight or month) and people have to guess what the word is. Have a thread for guesses, every member gets 3 guesses in total. Obviously you can use other words in your posts as well to throw people off. At the end of the period the first person to have picked the word is then revealed as the winner. Will keep interest in it until the end, and interest in your posts The winner each time would then pick a word you have to use that only you and they know. Hopefully there is enough integrity in our members here not to leak their word.
Obviously we would need to set some rules around the word. We wouldn't want too common words like AND etc used. TT related words required I think is best.

Maybe you can organize OOAK Awards - 2011, and create types of awards such as Most Contributing member, Best Anti/Inverted/LP player of the year, etc. etc. Have the nominations done and open a poll thread for every category to let people vote for the category.
