Hi, I am new to this forum and I find it very useful. I am a defensive player very interested in the different material we use. I have been Veteran National Champion in my country Spain. I am searching for inverted rubbers with hard sponge and tacky surface. I have just received two rubbers from TSP:

TSP triple power chop sponge black

Very high quality rubber (like every TSP rubber I have seen).The surface is tacky ( as tacky as Hurricane III but a bit less than Hurricane II or DHS G888 and much less than old 999 High Viscosity). It lifts the ball up 40-50cm but doesn´t hold it. The sponge is around 1.2 mm and rated 55 degrees so is very hard but a bit speedy for my taste. It reminds me HRS cream sponge from Friendship. I like hard sponges but a bit more dead. The throw angle is very low for a defensive rubber and it is non linear, like chinese rubbers . It has low control in topspin due to the lack of linearity. The pushes and chops are easy but its speed make it less forgiving than TSP***730. It is very good for hitting.


TSP ***730

Same quality as above. Tacky surface but duller than TSP triple. It lifts the ball 10-20cm only. The sponge is around 1.0 mm. Its hardness is stated as 50º but seems to be softer I think around 40-45º. It is rather slow and the throw angle is higher than TSP triple and more linear, more "european". The control is very high for topspin ( a bit slow), pushes and chopping, with very good spin ( though not as "punchy" as chinese tacky surfaces with hard and dead sponge rubbers).

Conclusion:

Two very good quality rubbers. I like more TSP**730 for its very good control. The TSP triple power could be more suited for hitters.
I´ll continue with my search for the perfect rubber !!!

It must be hard to loop with rubbers with such a thin sponge... you must brush it very finely.

Yes, I must do a very long stroke, but for the 3rd ball atack and very slow and spinny loops its fine.
