TT was always on the backburner for me just because I never thought I was any good.
Til this year, I was in quite a few bands, playing guitar mostly. The bands varied a lot in style, ranging from Lady Gaga to Paramore to Linkin Park to Dream Theater, Periphery.... yadda yadda.

Welcome, Benjamin/Robert.
I'm pleased to hear you're a righty shakehand player rather than a shaky righthand player.
I've heard of a number of the performers you've mentioned but not the last one: yadda yadda. (oh, I find myself so amusing.)

Welcome to velonstrials also. Beware! this forum is full of fanatics who will encourage you to spend every last cent you have on purchasing table tennis equipment. Particularly stay away from the darksiders, who will use the force to bend you to their will.

Joined up on the forums the other day, thought I'd take part and post up a quick intro here

- where are you from: SA
- how long you've been playing: 9 years
- playing style: I use inverted both sides, try to play an attacking game, but trying to focus more on consistency and control in recent times. Dunno what you call that :P
- level: Div1 / A Grade
- job or what you do outside TT: IT 8)
- other hobbies: IT, Gardening, Cricket, Single Malt Whiskys .... Long walks on the beach :*
- how you stumbled upon this forum: Bought some Galaxy Moon Pro rubbers (to replace my Tenergy05) from Alex on the weekend and found the forum from the website ;)

I use to frequent another TT forum (DTTW) back when I was a keen junior. Now I am starting to take more of an active interest in TT again after having a few years of just cruising through playing competition matches, which is what brought me to joining up here.

Welcome Dan.

I note the interest in single malts, but that's not what you're holding in your hand. :D And something tells me it's not a Coopers either?

Thanks mate, I might need a disclaimer saying that it might not actually be me in the avatar ;)

While I love my single malts, I'm definitely not going to turn down a nice cold pint

Welcome also, Dan!

I too noticed the discrepancy in the photo!

And, the Galaxy Moon Pro rubbers, please give us some feedback on if they are a good replacement for the Tenergy 05!

We look forward to your input on various things!

Thanks glenholder.

Once I have had a bit more of a hit with the Galaxy Moon rubbers I'll post up a bit of a comparison with my experiences using Tenergy05.

Hi Dan, it's good to have you on board. And I'm quite sure that with a little computer wizardry, your videos will look every bit as convincing as Forrest Gump. :D

Welcome Dan!

Beware!!! Your purchasing habits of TT equipment could be on the rise after various communications with forum members!

Hi everybody.
I'm Michael from Switzerland, 23 years old. I've been lurking around for some time now, reading many posts mostly about equipment. Yes, the EJ-virus has infected me, and no, I managed to not buy anything yet 8)
I'd rank myself as an advanced beginner, in need to work on consistency, reflexes and strategy. (I'd really like to emphasize strategy, but I guess I'm not good enough yet)
Currently I'm using a Tibhar Xeon Sensitec Off- Blade with 1.9mm Donic Jo Waldners on both sides. Since reading on this forum, I've been suspecting it to be a little too fast, so recommendations on this are very welcome :)
I'm looking to improve my game, and play competitively at some point. Unfortunately the clubs I've been to in my vicinity didn't offer coached trainings, so I have to stick to self-analysis, friendly matches and my RoboPong for now.

Welcome to the forum mmL!

I don't think that setup sounds too fast... I think it sounds like a very good setup for a developing player.

Feel free to start another thread on this, if you'd like some more opinions.

Welcome mmL!

Since you have a RoboPong, that shows that you are a serious advanced beginner!

The guys on this forum will certainly help you (and me) with strategies!

On the subject of paddle speed, every player has different reflexes, different type of swing and different experience levels. So it is a great subject to explore, both by playing and communicating.

Hope to see you around here often!
