Very nice player... He's playing with different key tactics with a mix of seldom long pimple shot and efficient forehand pivot.
Very aggressive player which give an attractive nice to see match with some amazing suspense.
During the summer he was very closed to win against Chuang in Chili Pro Tour 2011.
He plays for Cestas in France (ProA league).

Liu Song played at the Teams event in Baltimore this past weekend. I had a chance to talk very briefly with him and asked about his equipment. He grabbed his racket and handed it to me for my inspection.

Drum roll please.... He plays with red Bomb Talent OX and black Joola Explode on a Joo Se Hyuk blade.

And he plays remarkably well. He rarely uses his LPs in rallies and mostly relies on his FH loop to win points. He covers most of the table with his FH, almost like a traditional penholder. He occasionally mixes in a LP chop block in a rally or uses them sometimes on return of serve. He will chop from distance if pushed off the table. He also hit a few balls very hard with the LPs, once or twice from 6 feet behind the table (they all landed.)

Players up to USATT rating of 2600 were of no consequence to him. He beat one of the better US junior players who has a 2566 rating at 2, 2, and 2. Just a completely different skill level.

His team (comprised of himself, WR #93, Lin Ju WR#101, and Lubomir Pistej WR#114) lost in the finals to the Chinese junior boys which included Fang Bo and Zhang Chao. The Chinese juniors were not in the least bit bothered by the LPs and any chop blocks were powerfully loop killed.

Lin Ju plays for the Dominican Republic and is a wonderful modern defender with some very creative hooking sidespin FH loops that he hits at his shoe lace height, which turn 90 degrees after landing on the table. Unfortunately I did not get a chance to speak with him or check out his equipment.

Interesting info, thanks.

In the final, Liu Song got the only win for Team Joola beating penholder Wenzhuang Tao.

Lin Ju lost to both Chao Zhang and Fang Bo in straight sets.

Lubomir Pistej lost to Chao Zhang in straight sets.

the young pen holder had both of his rackets disqualified after having a non ittf approved rubber (medium pips) on the backhand side and was actually using fang bo's shakehand blade in order to play.

Whaaa? Penholder w/ rpb with pips? Which ones? The only short pips that were banned were the original spinpips and md and 388b.

no RPB usually for him but he was doing it in the match....

and those are the "previously ittf approved but not anymore" short pips......im sure there are hundreds of non ittf approved pips in china that we have never even herd of.....for example....what about the old gold way pips....or the yung pips, or maybe he just had the logo cut off...

Wow! So all that non-ITTF approved stuff is allowed in the China Super League, the highest level league in the world? Than why the heck are all these low level recreational competitions so anal about following the ITTF list? What a disconnect!

I'm not certain about him, but I know his teammates Chao Zhang and Fang Bo do.
