Oh yeah, there's a lot of experience here. (not coming from me, now....be wary of advice I give for now) EJ-ism is almost a religion here in some :P

Hello, newbie to the forums and tt in general. I have learned a great amount from the forums already and have met some very helpful members. I love what you guys are doing here. The information, the advice, and everything is so helpful. I am a penhold player. I've been playing off and on since I can remember, but I have never been serious about getting good, just hitting the ball. I've been getting a bit more consistent lately, and tt has been more enjoyable because of that... who knew. If anyone here is from Tyler, TX and wants to hit some, I would love to. From what I know, there is a nonexistent tt community here. Do not expect too much though.

Welcome veczilla!

I hope that you continue to get chances to play with people!

Some people, (like me!) will go to extremes to get a chance to play.....

So I took the liberty to post the picture of my custom table here, it is narrow, but regulation length. I did this table customization so that I could practice in my small apartment!

I hope you make some new friends here!

Just go out there and be seen. You may be pleasantly surprised. I was, about a year ago, and now our club is coming to life properly. Facebook was made for that kind of "advertising". Do a search and make yourself searchable. (A public FB group, tt as an interest in your profile, etc.)

Meredith Elston may be the one to get in touch with, according to http://www.robbinstabletennis.com/plplytx.htm
(If Elston is not active anymore, and you want to make a great effort for tt and yourself, contact robbinstabletennis and ask them to add you to that listing. Be warned that it may take a fair share of your time for the coming years.)

@glennholder: I like the picture. Is that your return board in the background? (Dark field that looks like a door.) :D

Wow Veczilla, Tyler is kinda out there by its own. When I was in Lawton, even among 100,000 + peoples, I was the only registered player in the entire city for 5 years, up to 2 months before I left. Too bad.

Mr. Elston, and both his son and daughter seemed to play in every tourney Texas Wesleyan held, well at least every one I went to and played in. His daughter hovers in the bottom of top 100 US women and his son is finally getting up in size and level. They are good folk if you can run into them over there.

Hi

I'm Bence Schmidt from Hungary. I have been reading this forum for a year, I got some really useful tips here, and there are lot of nice and helpful guy :)

I'm 19 years old, started playing 2 years ago as a defender my style is between the classical and modern defender. I enjoy tt most from as long distance as possible.

My strengths: I'm very quick, I go for every ball and reach lots of impossible ball. That's why I enjoy playing as a defender :) My B/H chop is consistent, and spinny, quite good.
From F/H side the only thing I can do quite good is sidespin-overspin fishing, that's quite good.

My weakness: unless I'm quick, my footwork is terrible  so I get almost every ball but not in good position
My F/H is weak, but it's mostly because of my injury, hernia, I cant do fast movements and cant use my body for looping. Maybe after 1-2 month I can, thats an other story :)
Another weakness is that I dont feel good at the table, I'm not good at blocking esp. with B/H

I play a regional league in Hungary, with 60-70% sucess.

My favourite are Kentaro Miuchi, Jang Song Man, Joo, Gionis, Hou, and Maze, Kreanga from the attackers

I also like playing tennis(I switched from tennis to table tennis because tennis was too expensive) and fishing.

Greetings

Hi all. :hai: I'm very new to the forum, but love it already! I'm 14 years old and have been playing for around 3 years now. I'm from Leicester in the heart of England and play at a tiny club just down the road. At the moment I play a very attacking style, relying on speed and spin together to win me my points, although I am considering a change to a slightly more defensive style because I find it far more interesting. I reached something like 20th in England for U15's last year, as well as breaking into the England B training squad before exams began to take their toll and I decided to play at a local level.

I have a great interest in buiding my knowledge of rubbers and blades, along with football, and in the summer, golf. I came across this forum via a friend from school and my club. That's me!

Hehe :D I guess the Gin bit was a slight reference to my ginger hair, but other than that, your mind needn't untangle anything! :D :D
