Hey forum, Im 15 from thailand, height 167 cm weight 68 kg (not fat, but overweight
My style(s) - Defensive -
both modern and classic, trained defence since 2 years ago. set up - bty ardes + feint long 2 black + bty tackfire special soft red.Offensive (shakehand)
- both spin offensive and speed offensive, i differ my styles according to my opponents but speed is my main weapon. i've got a HUGE variety of serves for SH (including kenta's backhand tomahawk!! took me bout a month to vary the serve properly). i am confident playing both close to the table, mid and long distance, i decide my positioning according to the opponent (i smash spin offensive players close to the table but i'd counter attack speed offensive players away from the table, how far is up to his speed). two winged looper and hitter. 3rd ball attacks when possible. trained offensive shakehand for 3-4 years before stoppingOffensive (penhold)
- forehand dominated obviously. RPB is as consistent as forehands but isnt as strong in speed and spin. i live on 3rd ball attacks when playing penhold, been studying ma lin's serves for ages. i use traditional backhand blocks as well. i like liu guoliang's style way more than ma lin's, more entertaining when watching and playing his style (but his serves are IMPOSSIBLE to copy with variety). i usually play penhold close to the table with good(?) footwork (my other sports are boxing, tennis and badminton where all the footwork training are much tougher than table tennis [especially boxing!!]). started 6 months ago but trained it more seriously than other styles.
All round (counter attacks and defence) - counter attacks are used in every single styles i play and given my solid defence i am comfortable playing the all rounded style. this style is played with jpen, cpen and sh. i tend to play this style when my opponent shows inconsistency and huge lack of footwork.
The level in which i play at is pre-national, i'm the top player for my age group in my province. i play table tennis mainly for the enjoyment but when im given an opportunity to train i'd make the best out of it cus i enjoy playing at a higher level.
jobs? - im still a student (OBVIOUSLY), im in year 10 (british curriculum) or grade 9 (american curriculum). doing 9 extended IGCSE's this by 2013 and is as hard as **** to get an a* (ARE YOU ****ING KIDDING ME?!!? ONLY 4% OF ALL STUDENTS WHO TAKE THE EXAM GETS A*?!!?).
other hobbies - played tennis seriously when i was 10 - 14, won players who were ranked top 10 in my age group at the time. played badminton since 7 but trained seriously 13-15, now at the highest level of pre national (at last!!!). started boxing since 13 but discontinued it up until recent months when i was bothered enough to make a return to the gym. i run 8 kms a day with a tracksuit on the way boxers run and swim 1.5 km a day, looking forward to joining a triathlon soon.
what lead me to this forum? - i've done a lot of researches bout table tennis in english (since researching in thai sucks) and found this website.
