I'm realy interested in this blade. i've read every thing about it in this forum and i could'nt find any comparison to other brand's blades concerning playing characteristics.

Skippy mantioned some blades and said something about speed, but there was no real comparison.

can someone compare this blade to any of Butterfly's blades in the categories "off-" "off" or "off+" ? how does it play compared to them? (i am aware to the blade's composition)

thanks in advance

I would probably move this post to the blades side of the forum. The speed on the butterfly scale would be right around the speed of the Viscaria. Tad faster than TBS, especially on straight counters. It's probably about identical to Viscaria on loops as far as speed, but a little more solid over the table. Viscaria is maybe a hair more flexy. That's the blade I would compare it speedwise to most closely. Slower than Photino, and Iolite Neo.

It's not nearly so fast as I thought it would be, but it is definitely an OFF blade leaning toward the OFF+. However, because of the Kiso Hinoki even though it is a firm, somewhat stiff blade, it really has a soft feel. It's definitely a good blade for loopers. I've loved every blade I've ever tried with Hinoki outer layers and to date the Zetro Quad is finally a keeper. I think this blade will match well with a fast rubber if one is good enough to handle it, but I have a medium-speed rubber (Nittakku Hammond Pro Beta) and I get good control yet just enough speed when I need it. This blade and rubber has given me the ability to step back a few feet when I need it and still have good power. A downside MIGHT be trying to use it with ox LPs unless one is a good hitter. It is probably too fast for passive blocking. I tried it with Pogo and Talon both and I was struggling with my control. But if you hit with it the ball won't often come back! That's why I recently switched to anti on the bh and this blade seems a good match for that. I can actually loop (very slow) with the anti against no spin or underspin balls and it just feels so good and solid with this blade. I want to buy another as a backup if I can scrape up the cash!

The down side to buying two is scraping up the money to keep putting rubbers on it...bleh!

i couldn't resist the temptation and i bought this blade. straight handle, 85gr.

i've already plaid with it about 10 hours. with hexer HD on forehand and regular hexer on backhand.

i have the same rubbers on butterfly amultart.a combo that i used the last 2 1/2 months.
compared to that i can say that with xiom/s blade my forehand loops are more consistent. maybe carry a bit more spin but less speed. the throw is medium high,a bit less than with amultart.

what i miss here is power on flat hits and smashes,i would prefer to have some more speed and power
but this is not so very significant that i can't live with this drawback.
on the backhand i have no problems, it was very easy to accustom to it,quite similar behavior to the amultart combo, just a bit slower.

over all the blade with these rubbers has a very good feel and control, better(for me) for looping no problems with other shots-blocks,pushes and even chops both sides.

this is definitely a keeper for me.
