Yes I think I know who you should contact. I'll send you a PM. I will expect to see one of the Vets selectors at country week too so I'll ask then what the go is.

You could probably play the last two? tournaments as a pushblocker and get enough points to make a presidents team anyway ?:)

If you entered the Vic closed and Croydon and managed to win 10 state team points (5 each tournament) you would be in anyway

Carbonman you could probably play Presidents as a left hander and A team as a right hander when your shoulder is good enough :P

Hi Foam - The most number of President's team I've seen fielded by any State is 3. Also ranking does not enter in getting into the State Team. They go by "State Team Points".... this is reset every year. Go to the TTV website and navigate towards "Players" and then click on State Team criteria.

And yes, Reb is correct, in order to be selected you need to play the Age Group Open, Divisions does not count. The minimum number of tournament you need to play is 4 and one of them has to be the Vic Open or Vic Closed.

The last tournament in Victoria before they start the selection is the Croydon Vets, so will get an idea if we get selected after July 15.

Even if you don't get in the Teams, you can enter as an Individual. Teams event goes on for 3 - 4 days then this is followed by the Individual Events - Doubles then Singles.

I ended up finding out they do go on State points first, then Ratings as a secondary way to sort people out

How are your State points looking Foam? Speaking to a selector last Sunday I got the impression that, with the Presidents teams at least, there was some degree of flexibility and that it also depended on how many apply. Thus, even if your State points aren't super you could still get a berth.

I have hardly any points but neither does anyone else outside the usual A and B team members so I'm sure I'll make a Presidents team, should be the first one if they have two. Seems like you really need to be at least middle Division 1 player to have any hope of getting out of the group stage in 040s. Most of the players in the top section of the o40s are actually in the o50s teams, so it's a bit of an illusion about how many are there. For me it's just a matter of scraping together enough 1 points for showing up and the occasional win and extra point if you have a weak 2nd player in the group :D

In the end if I get there I'm going to get whipped by everyone but the weaker States B teams. It'll still be a good learning experience. I figure you will have at least a 20 point day out in one of the age groups or both so you might even qualify for the B team with just one tournament :envy: haha

Hey guys,
Here's the appropriate rulings direct from the TTV By-Laws...

Athlete Eligibility
Veterans Teams (Over 40 and older)
13/ Play the Open Singles in the respective age group or lower age group in at least four TTV
veterans tournaments in the selection period, one of which must be the Victorian Open
Veterans or Victorian Closed Veterans if they fall within the selection period. To be eligible
to play only doubles in a team, play the Open Doubles or Open Singles in the respective age
group or lower age group in at least four TTV veterans tournaments in the selection period,
one of which must be the Victorian Open Veterans or Victorian Closed Veterans if they fall
within the selection period.
Exemption from Eligibility Criteria
14/ The TTV Board, on the recommendation of the relevant selectors, may grant an exemption
from these eligibility criteria in two situations:
14.1/ In extraordinary circumstances where an athlete has a significant impediment to participation
in the Victorian tournament program. This includes athletes with elite level participation in
national or international events or training (although they are still expected to participate in
the Victorian tournament program when they are in Victoria). This DOES NOT include
short term injury (i.e. less than two tournaments). Exemptions must be submitted in writing,
preferably on the Application for Exemption from TTV State Team Eligibility Criteria
form, which is available on the TTV website, or
14.2/ To make up the numbers in a B Team or State Team (where no B Team is selected) when
there are not enough eligible athletes but it is considered beneficial to the overall TTV
program to nominate this team.
